Marcel Faustiano Augustin Gumbs (born 26 February 1953) [1] is a Sint Maarten politician who served as the 2nd Prime Minister of Sint Maarten from 2014 to 2015. He was selected as Prime Minister in the coalition agreement between the United People's Party and the independent Members Parliament Cornelius de Weever and Leona Marlin-Romeo. [2] Prior to becoming Prime Minister,he served as a member on the Sint Maarten Council of Advise. [3] [4]
Marcel Gumbs was born on 26 February 1953 on Curaçao. As a child,Gumbs attended the St. Joseph School in Sint Maarten. [1]
He began his career in 1983,as an observer in the Parliament of the Netherlands Antilles for the Democratic Party (DP). In that same year,he postulated himself for the Island Council election but did not obtain enough votes to be elected. In the 1985 parliamentary election,Gumbs received 218 votes and was elected to parliament for his first term. In 1990,when DP leader Claude Wathey refused to accept his parliamentary seat,Gumbs having received the next highest votes,419 was sworn into his second parliamentary term. For the 1994 parliamentary election,Gumbs led the DP and was elected to a third term with a career high 919 votes. After receiving 416 votes in the 1998 parliamentary election,Gumbs became a junior minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Susanne Camelia-Römer. [5]

General elections were held in the Netherlands Antilles on 22 January 2010. Voters elected the 22 members of the Estates,or parliament,of the Netherlands Antilles. It has been the country's last general election,as the Netherlands Antilles have ceased to exist as a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands on 10 October 2010. At the time of the elections,the Netherlands Antilles consisted of the Caribbean islands of Bonaire,Curaçao,Saba,Sint Eustatius and Sint Maarten.
The Minister Plenipotentiary of Sint Maarten represents the constituent country of Sint Maarten in the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The current Minister Plenipotentiary is Patrice Gumbs with Gracita Arrindell as the acting deputy.

Sarah A. Wescot-Williams is the leader of the Democratic Party of Sint Maarten and the first Prime Minister of Sint Maarten. Wescot-Williams is the current President of Parliament,a role she has occupied on five separate occasions. Even though her party only managed to secure two seats in the Sint Maarten general election of 2010,she was selected as Prime Minister in the coalition agreement between United People and the Democratic Party.

William Marlin is a Sint Maarten politician who served as the 3rd Prime Minister of Sint Maarten from 2015 to 2017. Marlin was the leader of the National Alliance,and was the leader of the First and Second Marlin cabinet.
Elaine Gumbs-Vlaun is a St. Maartener who was the first social worker on the island,and founded the Department of Social Services. She was also the first female parliamentarian,having served under the Netherlands Antilles.
Franklin Antonio Meyers is a Sint Maarten businessman and United People's Party politician who serves as a Member of Parliament since 2014. He was Minister of Tourism,Economic Affairs,Transport and Telecommunications in the First Wescot-Williams cabinet from 2010 to 2012.
Snap general elections were held in Sint Maarten on 26 February 2018 following a no confidence vote in the Second Marlin cabinet.
Leona M. Romeo is a Sint Maarten politician who served as Prime Minister of Sint Maarten from 2018 to 2019. She previously served as a member of Parliament from 2014 to 2016.
Jorien Wuite is a Sint Maarten-Dutch civil servant,diplomat,and politician. Born in The Hague,she moved to Sint Maarten aged 32 to work in government. She rose to the position of Minister of Education,Culture,Youth and Sports and served as Minister Plenipotentiary of Sint Maarten in the period 2018–19. She moved back to the European part of the Netherlands due to her election to the House of Representatives in 2021 as a member of the social liberal party Democrats 66 (D66).
Silveria Elfrieda Jacobs is a Sint Maarten politician and the former Prime Minister of Sint Maarten from 2019 to 2024.
Island council elections were held in the Netherlands Antilles on 7 April and 12 May 1995 to elect the members of the island councils of its five island territories. The election was won by the Bonaire Democratic Party in Bonaire,the Party for the Restructured Antilles in Curaçao,the Saba Democratic Labour Movement in Saba,the Democratic Party Statia in Sint Eustatius,and the Democratic Party in Sint Maarten.

Melissa Gumbs is a Sint Maarten politician and has been a member of the Parliament of Sint Maarten since 2020.
