Margaret Skok is a Canadian former diplomat and ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan serving from September 2006 to October 2009. [1] [2] [3] She is also a Senior Fellow, at Carleton University, Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. [4]

Career

Her federal career began with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canada Employment and Immigration, and Parks Canada, working in Ottawa and Montreal. [4]

In 2006, she succeeded Anna Biolik as the Ambassador the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan serving till October 2009. [5]

She was a senior fellow at Centre for International Governance Innovation. [6] She was involved in building cooperation to Kazakhstan [7] [8] [9]

Prior to that, Mukhamejanov was the ambassador to Lithuania and Latvia, äkim of Mangystau Region from 22 December 2011 to 18 January 2013, Minister of Internal Affairs from 14 October 2005 to 2 April 2009, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan from 29 January 2002 to 13 June 2003, and Minister of Justice from 13 October 1997 to 13 September 2000.

Anna Biolik is a Canadian diplomat. She is the Regional Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade's Vancouver Regional Office. She was Canada's first Ambassador to Mongolia. She has been head of Canada's mission in St Petersburg in the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Akmaral Haidarqyzy Arystanbekova is a Kazakhstani diplomat who served the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic from November 1989 to December 1991. She was the first Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations from 1992 to 1999. She was the fourth female ambassador among the 176 member states of the United Nations. After her UN assignment, she also served as Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative to UNESCO.

John Thomas Holmes is a Canadian diplomat who served as ambassador to the Philippines, Turkey, Indonesia, and Jordan. Born in Ormstown, Quebec, and raised in Hemmingford, a village on the southern border, he was educated at Champlain Regional College in St. Lambert, Quebec and earned degrees in history and political science (1978) and law (1982) from McGill University in Montreal. Holmes is married to Carol Bujeau, a communications specialist and the author of Triple Sex and Other Tales of an Ambassador's Wife, a book about their life abroad. They have two children, Jordan and Kayla.
