Margaret Elizabeth Southern, CC LVO AOE (born Margaret Visser on 26 February 1931) is a Canadian businesswoman, noted as a co-founder of the Spruce Meadows equestrian park near Calgary.

Born in High River, Alberta, she graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Physical Education degree in 1953. She joined the University of Calgary in her early career, becoming the first female physical education instructor on that campus. She served as Elizabeth II's Canadian Lady-in-Waiting during the Queen's 1990 royal tour of Canada. She was made a lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order for her service to the Canadian sovereign. She was married to ATCO chair Ron Southern until his death in 2016. The Southerns opened Spruce Meadows in 1975, a facility that remains an international-grade equestrian sports facility today. Southern has also participated on various business, community and non-profit boards during her career.

In 1988, she was honoured with her home province's highest civilian award, the Alberta Order of Excellence, after becoming a member of the Order of Canada the previous year. Within the Order of Canada she was promoted to highest chief Officer level in October 1993 and Companion in December 2007 for having "demonstrated passionate leadership and commitment to sport as a professional and volunteer". Scott Brash MBE is a Scottish showjumper. He began riding the horse Hello Sanctos in early 2012. They competed as part of the British Team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London winning a gold medal in the team jumping event. In 2015 he became the first rider to win show jumping's Rolex Grand Slam, all three of the sport's most prestigious events in a single year, earning the sport's biggest individual prize of 1m Euros (£735,000).

Martha Cohen

Martha Ruth Cohen, CM, LLD was a Canadian community activist and philanthropist. She spearheaded a variety of major civic projects, including construction of the $45 million Calgary Centre for the Performing Arts. As chairwoman of the board of directors at Mount Royal College, she oversaw the construction of a new campus and was the first woman to head a higher educational institution in Alberta. ATCO Field Soccer stadium near Calgary, Alberta, Canada

ATCO Field is a soccer stadium at Spruce Meadows in Foothills County, Alberta, Canada. It is home to Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League. The venue also serves as the home for several equestrian events spanning two to four weeks per year. Public transportation to the stadium is available from the Somerset–Bridlewood CTrain station. ATCO, the Canadian corporation from which the stadium gets its name, is also owned by the Southern family.
