Marian Drenceanu (born 1 March 1990) is a Romanian rugby union footballer. He plays the position of lock.

Club career

He played for Timișoara Saracens between 2012 and 2018. At the start of 2019 he transferred to CSM București, in the SuperLiga. [2] Following CSM's dissolution in 2019 he chose to represent Steaua București. [3]

International career

Drenceanu has six caps for Romania. He won his first cap in 2014 against Russian Medvedi. [4]

At the end of April, Gloria Buzău announced that their senior team have dissolved due to financial issues concerning the COVID-19 pandemic leaving only 6 teams remaining in the SuperLiga for the remainder of the season. During August 2020, it was announced that Timișoara Saracens RCM UVT will restart in the SuperLiga under the new name of SCM Timișoara Rugby.

The 2019 Cupa României was the 115th season of Romania`s national rugby union cup competition, reserved for club teams participating in the CEC Bank SuperLiga. Starting with this edition the number of participating teams has decreased to seven, due to CSM București dissolving before the start of the new season meaning all of CSM`s matches are to be cancelled.
