Auguste Henri André Duméril was a French zoologist. His father, André Marie Constant Duméril (1774–1860), was also a zoologist. In 1869 he was elected as a member of the Académie des sciences.

It is a marine, deep water-dwelling eel which is known from the Indo-Pacific, including New Caledonia and Maldives. It dwells at a depth range of 430 to 500 metres. Males can reach a maximum total length of 33.7 centimetres (13.3 in).

John Ernest "Jack" Randall was an American ichthyologist and a leading authority on coral reef fishes. Randall described over 800 species and authored 11 books and over 900 scientific papers and popular articles. He spent most of his career working in Hawaii. He died in April 2020 at the age of 95.
Phillip Clarence Heemstra was an American-South African ichthyologist. He was born in Melrose Park, Illinois, United States as the son of Clarence William Heemstra and his wife, Lydia. He attended school in Ottawa, Illinois, and completed a B.Sc. Zoology in 1963 at the University of Illinois at Urbana, Illinois, as well as his MSc degree (1968) and doctorate (1974) in marine biology at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. He moved to live in South Africa in 1978.
Charles Roux was a French marine biologist who was the research director at the Centre oceanographique de Pointe-Noire in the French Congo and in 1987 became a professor and deputy director at the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle in Paris. He attained his doctorate award in 1982 and was the author of a number of papers and books, notably co-writing Ocean Dwellers with Yves Verbreek. He was one of the six founders of the Société Française d’Ichtyologie in 1976, along with Marie-Louise Bauchot, Jacques Daget, Jean-Claude Hureau, Théodore Monod and Yves Plessis.
Plectranthias bauchotae is a species of fish in the family Serranidae occurring in the Western Indian Ocean.
