Marie Claire Uwumuremyi (born 1979) is a Rwandan politician. Since 2018 she has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies. [1]

Life

Before becoming an MP, Marie Claire Uwumuremyi worked for the Land Bureau, as a District Land Officer and District Land Valuation Officer. [1] She was Chairperson of the National Women Council (CNF) in the Southern Province. On International Day of Rural Women 2011 she encouraged women in Tumba Sector, Huye District, to use opportunities provided by the government, and improve their businesses by taking loans. [2]

In September 2018 she became the MP for Nyanza District, Southern Province, as a women's representative. [1] In October 2018 she attended a World Food Day event, supporting the Rwandan government's Girinka (One Cow Per Poor Family) programme. [3] In December 2019 she was elected to the Executive Committee of the Rwanda Chapter of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP). [4] In June 2019, speaking at a commemoration ceremony held in Mukingo Sector, Nyanza District, she reminded her audience of the importance of remembering the Rwanda genocide:

It requires that the youth be taught the history so there cannot be neither alteration nor telling it the wrong way for own interest. We instead must teach our children about the life we passed through, show them where we are, the visions we have set and what we expect them to take the country. [5]

Maraba coffee is grown in the Maraba area of southern Rwanda. Maraba's coffee plants are the Bourbon variety of the Coffea arabica species and are grown on fertile volcanic soils on high-altitude hills. The fruit is handpicked, mostly during the rainy season between March and May, and brought to a washing station in Maraba, where the coffee beans are extracted and dried. Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Caraes Ndera, or simply Caraes Ndera Hospital, is a referral hospital in Rwanda that provides specialized healthcare in psychiatry and neurology. Founded in 1968, the hospital is located in Ndera Sector, Gasabo District in City of Kigali. The hospital is owned by the Congregation of the Brothers of Charity in partnership with the Government Rwanda, with the Government supporting the hospital in human resource and administrative matters, and the congregation assuring the management of the hospital. Marie Claire Mukasine is a Rwandan lawyer, politician and civil servant. From 2011 to 2019 she was a member of the Senate of Rwanda, and has served as a permanent secretary in Rwanda's Ministry of Infrastructure. In 2020 she was appointed Chairperson of the National Commission for Human Rights in Rwanda (NHCR).
