Marius Cihărean (born 17 November 1975) is a featherweight weightlifter from Romania. He competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics, and won a bronze medal at the 1996 European Championships. [1] He still competes in the masters category. [2] His elder brother Traian is also a former Olympic weightlifter. [3]
Pyrros Dimas is a Greek politician and former weightlifter. He is currently the technical director for USA Weightlifting, having taken that position in June 2017. Dimas has also been involved in politics as a member of the Hellenic Parliament, representing the Panhellenic Socialist Movement from 2012 to 2015.

Yoto Vasilev Yotov is a Bulgarian weightlifter. Yotov is one of the greatest Bulgarian weightlifters of all time. He is a two-time Olympic silver medalist, three-time world champion, six-time European champion, winner of the 1991 World Cup. Holds a total of 51 medals from the Olympic Games, World and European Championships in total, snatch and clean and jerk - 22 gold, 22 silver and 7 bronze. Because of his long career and many medals, he has been called the Professor. He was voted Sportsperson of the Year of Bulgaria for 1997. In 2020 he was awarded the highest state honors of Bulgaria in the field of sports - the Wreath of the winner. He began training in 1984. He has competed for the clubs Minor Pernik, Levski and Dobrich. At the 1988 World and European Junior Championships in Athens became second. A year later in Fort Lauderdale, USA, he became the World Junior Champion. Following is a great career for men with three world titles, six European titles and two silver medals from the Olympics, as well as many other medals from major championships. Among them three bronze medals from the Goodwill Games in 1990 in Seattle. At the end of his career, he competed for Croatia but did not win medals.
Anatoly Mikhaylovich Khrapaty was a heavyweight weightlifter, Olympic Champion, and five time World Champion who competed for the Soviet Union and Kazakhstan. Between 1984 and 1996 he won a gold and a silver Olympic medal, as well as five worlds and five European titles. He also set five world records: one in the snatch, three in the clean and jerk and one in the total.

Nicolae "Nicu" Vlad is a retired heavyweight weightlifter from Romania. He competed for Romania at the 1984, 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympics and won a gold, a silver and a bronze medal. He won the world title in 1984, 1986 and 1990 and European title in 1985 and 1986 and set world records in the snatch in 1986 and 1993. Between 1991 and 1996, he lived in Australia and competed for it internationally. In 2006, he was elected member of the International Weightlifting Federation Hall of Fame. He is still especially noteworthy for achieving the heaviest-ever snatch of double-bodyweight—lifting 200.5 kg in the 100 kg class.
Traian Ioachim Cihărean is a retired flyweight weightlifter from Romania. He competed at the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympics and won a bronze medal in 1992, placing fifth-sixth on other occasions. Cihărean won the European title in 1991 and finished third at the 1989 World Championships. His younger brother Marius is also a former Olympic weightlifter.
Vadim Vacarciuc is a retired weightlifter from Moldova. He competed in four consecutive Summer Olympics for his native Eastern European country, starting in 1996.
Vladimir Popov is a former male weightlifter from Moldova. He competed in two consecutive Summer Olympics for his native Eastern European country, starting in 1996. He is best known for winning the bronze medal in the men's featherweight division at the 2001 European Championships in Trenčín, Slovakia.

Marius Vasile Cozmiuc is a Romanian rower. A 2022 World Champion in the coxless pair, Cozmiuc competed in a coxless four at the 2016 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal in the coxless pair at Tokyo 2020. He married fellow Olympic rower Ionela-Livia Cozmiuc in 2017.
Dumitru Captari is a Moldovan-born Romanian male weightlifter, competing in the 77 kg category. Until 2015 he represented Moldova at international competitions, and since 2015 is representing Romania. He participated at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the men's 77 kg event. He competed at world championships, including at the 2015 World Weightlifting Championships.
Kiril Kounev is a Bulgarian born Australian male weightlifter, competing in the 94 kg category and representing Australia at international competitions. He participated at the 1996 Summer Olympics in the 83 kg event and at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the 94 kg event. He competed at world championships, most recently at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships.
Christos Spyrou is a Greek weightlifter. He finished 13th in the 70 kg category at the 1996 Summer Olympics and 7th in the 85 kg category at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Spyrou also represented Greece at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships, and most recently at the 2005 European Weightlifting Championships.
Madalina-Bianca Molie is a Romanian weightlifter, who competed in the 69 kg category and represented Romania at international competitions. She won the silver medal in the snatch at the 2014 European Weightlifting Championships. Later in 2014 she tested positive on the forbidden substance stanozolol and was banned for two years by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).
Marius Eugen Tobă is a retired Romanian-born German artistic gymnast, who competed for Romania at the 1988 Olympics and for Germany at the 1996 and 2000 Games. His best individual result in an olympics or worlds was sixth place on rings in 2000. At the European championships he won two medals for Germany in 1994–1996. He is the 1988 Gold medalist in the All Around at the American Cup.
Marius Alecu is a Romanian weightlifter. He competed in the men's super heavyweight event at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
