Mariya Chernyayeva (born 14 February 1966) is a former synchronized swimmer from the Soviet Union. She competed in the women's duet competitions at the 1988 Summer Olympics gaining a 6th place. [1]

The Soviet Union (USSR) competed, for the last time before its dissolution, at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. 481 competitors, 319 men and 162 women, took part in 221 events in 27 sports. Mariya Dimitrova Petkova is a retired Bulgarian discus thrower. In 1976 she won an Olympic silver medal behind Evelin Schlaak, a standing that would repeat itself in 1980. This year she also achieved a personal best throw of 71.80 metres. In 1982 she won a European Championship silver medal behind countrywoman Tsvetanka Khristova, who is twelve years younger. One year later Petkova won the bronze medal at the first World Championships in Athletics.

Maria Ivanovna Gusakova was a Soviet cross-country skier who competed from the late 1950s to the early 1960s for VSS Spartak. She won a complete set of Winter Olympic medals with a gold in the 10 km (1960), a silver in the 3 × 5 km relay (1960), and a bronze in the 10 km (1964). Gusakova also earned a complete set of medals at the 1962 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with a gold in the 3 × 5 km relay, a silver in the 10 km, and a bronze in the 5 km. Her husband Nikolay Gusakov also competed at the 1960 Winter Olympics and claimed bronze in Nordic combined event.

Mariya Mitsova is a Bulgarian badminton player. Mitsova represented her country at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. In 2016, she became the runner-up at the Croatian International tournament in the mixed doubles event partnered with Alex Vlaar. She won two titles at the Hellas International tournament in the women's singles and doubles event. She was part of the national team that won the silver medal at the 2016 European Women's Team Championships in Kazan, Russia.

Mariya Mykolenko is a Ukrainian athlete. She competed in the women's 400 metres hurdles event at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
