She switched to para-cycling after the 2012 Paralympics and competed at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Paralympics, winning two gold medals at the latter. Iuliia Budaleeva was awarded the Order of Friendship by the Russian president, Vladimir Putin for her performance at the 2014 Winter Paralympics.

Bibian Mentel won the nation's only medal at these Paralympics, a gold in women's snowboard cross. With one gold medal, the Netherlands ranked a joint 14th place on the medal table with Switzerland.
