Mark Horden Baker (born 31 December 1958) is an Australian politician. He was elected as a Liberal Party of Australia member of the Australian House of Representatives in October 2004,for the Division of Braddon,Tasmania. He was educated in Tasmania,and holds various trade and academic qualifications.
In the past,his community involvement has included member of both the Devonport and Launceston Chamber of Commerce;the Motor Neurone Disease Association of Tasmania;he has also been a board member of the Tasmanian Football Club in 2002. In 2002 Mark was elected President of the Road Trauma Support Team Tasmania. He has worked as a carpenter/joiner,a teacher,and most recently,as a financial adviser. He was defeated for reelection in 2007 by Labor's Sid Sidebottom but held the swing against him to just 2% in the face of a nationwide swing to the ALP of 6%.

The Australian Greens, commonly referred to simply as the Greens, are a confederation of Green state and territory political parties in Australia. As of the 2022 federal election, the Greens are the third largest political party in Australia by vote and the fourth largest by elected representation. Peter Sid Sidebottom is an Australian former politician. Sidebottom was an Australian Labor Party member of the Australian House of Representatives, representing the Division of Braddon in Tasmania between 1998 and 2004 and again from the 2007 federal election until his defeat in 2013. In 2011, Sidebottom was appointed the Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. He was defeated for a second time at the 2013 election, with a swing of 10% against him.
Michael Ferguson is an Australian politician who is currently the Deputy Premier of Tasmania since April 2022. He has been a Liberal Party member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly in the Division of Bass since the 2010 state election. Ferguson was appointed to cabinet after his party's victory in the 2014 state election and has served continuously as Minister in a range of portfolios including Finance, Health, Infrastructure, Transport, State Growth and Science and Technology. He is also the Leader of the House.
Brett David Whiteley is an Australian politician. Whiteley was a Member of the House of Representatives representing the federal division of Braddon. He was elected at the 2013 federal election for the Liberal Party, defeating Labor's Sid Sidebottom, but was defeated after one term by Labor's Justine Keay at the 2016 federal election.
Anthony Maxwell Rundle AO was the Premier of the Australian State of Tasmania from 18 March 1996 to 14 September 1998. He succeeded Ray Groom and was succeeded himself by Jim Bacon. He is a Liberal who held the seat of Braddon between 1986 and 2002. A former journalist, he is married to Caroline Watt. He has twin daughters from his first marriage.

Nicholas James McKim is an Australian politician, currently a member of the Australian Senate representing Tasmania. He was previously a Tasmanian Greens member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly elected at the 2002 election, representing the Franklin electorate from 2002 to 2015, and led the party from 2008 until 2014. On 21 April 2010, he became the first member of the Greens in any Australian ministry. From February 2020 until June 2022, he served as co-deputy leader of the Australian Greens.

William Edward Felix Hodgman is an Australian diplomat and former politician who has been the High Commissioner of Australia to Singapore since February 2021. He was the 45th Premier of Tasmania and a member for the Division of Franklin in the Tasmanian House of Assembly from the 2002 state election until his resignation in January 2020. He became premier following the 2014 state election, having been Leader of the Opposition since 2006. He was re-elected to a second term in government following victory in the 2018 state election.
William Michael Hodgman AM QC was an Australian politician and lawyer. He was a member of the Liberal Party and served as Minister for the Capital Territory in the Fraser government from 1980 to 1983. He was active in both state and federal politics, serving in the Tasmanian Legislative Council (1966–1974), Australian House of Representatives (1975–1987), and Tasmanian House of Assembly. His son Will Hodgman was Premier of Tasmania for 6 years, until his resignation in January 2020.

Jeremy Page Rockliff is an Australian politician who has been serving as the 47th Premier of Tasmania since April 2022, after the resignation of Peter Gutwein as Premier. He has been a Liberal Party member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly in the Division of Braddon since the 2002 election. He was the Deputy Premier of Tasmania from 2014 to 2022 before becoming Premier. Since the electoral defeat of the Perrottet Coalition government in New South Wales in March 2023, Rockliff is the only incumbent non-Labor leader of an Australian state government.

The incumbent Liberal–Country coalition led by Prime Minister Robert Menzies defeated the opposition Labor Party under Arthur Calwell, despite losing the two-party-preferred popular vote. In his first election as Labor leader, Calwell significantly reduced the Coalition's margin, gaining 15 seats to leave the government with only a two-seat majority. This was the first and only time that a Federal Government won a sixth consecutive term in office.
