Mark Anthony Harper (born 31 October 1957 in Georgetown,Guyana) is a former cricketer and current head coach of Guyana,a team he represented throughout his playing career. Harper has previously coached the national teams of Bermuda (from 2001 to 2004) and the Turks and Caicos Islands (from 2007 to 2008). Harper's brother,Roger,played international cricket for the West Indies in the 1980s and 1990s. [1]
Sir Clive Hubert Lloyd CM is a Guyanese-British former cricketer and captain of the West Indies cricket team. Lloyd is widely regarded as one of the greatest captains of all time. As a boy he went to Chatham High School in Georgetown. At the age of 14 he was captain of his school cricket team in the Chin Cup inter-school competition. One of his childhood memories is of sitting in a tree outside the ground overlooking the sightscreen watching Garry Sobers score two centuries for West Indies v Pakistan. Lloyd captained the West Indies in three World Cups,winning in 1975 and 1979 while losing the 1983 final to India.
Shivnarine "Shiv" Chanderpaul CCH is a Guyanese cricket coach and former captain of the West Indies cricket team. Considered one of the greatest batsmen of his era,Chanderpaul is the 10th highest run scorer of all time in International cricket and the 9th highest in Test cricket. Chanderpaul was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy,and in the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy Final,he had the highest contribution for West Indies with the bat,scoring 47 runs.
Ramnaresh Ronnie Sarwan is a former Guyanese cricketer who played as a batsman. He is a former member and former captain of the West Indies cricket team,in all formats. Sarwan went on to average over 40 in both the test and one day international forms of cricket. He is considered to be one of the best West Indian batters of his generation. Sarwan was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy,and was subsequently the player of the tournament.
Sir Clyde Leopold Walcott KA,GCM,OBE was a West Indian cricketer. Walcott was a member of the "three W's",the other two being Everton Weekes and Frank Worrell:all were very successful batsmen from Barbados,born within a short distance of each other in Bridgetown,Barbados in a period of 18 months from August 1924 to January 1926;all made their Test cricket debut against England in 1948. In the mid-1950s,Walcott was arguably the best batsman in the world. He was the manager of the West Indian squads which won the 1975 Cricket World Cup and the 1979 Cricket World Cup. In later life,he had an active career as a cricket administrator,and was the first non-English and non-white chairman of the International Cricket Council.
Carl Llewelyn Hooper is a former Guyanese cricketer who captained the West Indies in Tests and ODIs. An all-rounder,he was a right-handed batsman and off-spin bowler,who came to prominence in the late 1980s in a side that included such players as Gordon Greenidge,Desmond Haynes,Malcolm Marshall and Courtney Walsh and represented the West Indies over a 16-year international career.
Roger Andrew Harper is a Guyanese former cricketer turned coach,who played both Test and One Day International cricket for the West Indies cricket team. His international career lasted 13 years,from 1983 to 1996,and he was later described as a "fabulous" fielder.
Clyde Godfrey Butts was a Guyanese cricketer who batted right-handed and bowled off breaks. Later,he became a team selector. In a career spanning 14 seasons,he played 87 first class games,including seven Test matches for the West Indies between 1985 and 1988. He also served as the chairman of West Indies Cricket Board Selection Panel for a brief stint.
The Guyana national cricket team is the representative first class cricket team of Guyana. The side does not take part in any international competitions,but rather in inter-regional competitions in the Caribbean,such as the Regional Four Day Competition and the Regional Super50),and the best players may be selected for the West Indies team,which plays international cricket. Guyana has participated in the South American Cricket Championship for some editions,but were represented by an overage "masters" team. The team competes under the franchise name Guyana Harpy Eagles.
The Super50 Cup,currently named the CG Insurance Super50 Cup for sponsorship purposes is the domestic one-day cricket competition in the West Indies. It was previously known as the KFC Cup until the fast food chain pulled out of sponsorship in 2008 and the WICB Cup until 2011. Afterwards it was known the Regional Super50 until 2014 when NAGICO Insurance became the title sponsor and it became the NAGICO Regional Super50 until 2021. In recent years it has been run in a condensed format with the group stage taking place over approximately two to three weeks,immediately followed by the knock-out stages. The West Indies cricket team,nicknamed The Windies,is a men's cricket team representing the West Indies—a group of mainly English-speaking countries and territories in the Caribbean region—and administered by Cricket West Indies. The players on this composite team are selected from a chain of fifteen Caribbean nation-states and territories. As of 12 July 2024,the West Indies cricket team is ranked eighth in Tests,tenth in ODIs,and third in T20Is in the official ICC rankings.
Leon Rayon Johnson,is a Guyanese born cricketer who plays as a right handed middle order batsman. He has featured for the West Indies,Guyana and Guyana Amazon Warriors in his career. Captaining both the West Indies at youth level and Guyana,Johnson is tied with Tamar Lambert of Jamaica as the most successful captain in West Indian first class cricket tournaments.
Demerara cricket team played first class cricket in the Jones Cup,later the Guystac Trophy,and came from the former British colony of Demerara,which is now a county of Guyana,formerly British Guiana. The other counties are Berbice and Essequibo.
The Guyana Cricket Board is the ruling body for cricket in Guyana.
The Grenada national cricket team represents the country of Grenada in cricket. The team is not a member of the International Cricket Council,but the Grenada Cricket Association is a member of the Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control,which itself is a member association of the West Indies Cricket Board,and players from Grenada generally represent the Windward Islands cricket team at domestic level and the West Indies at international level. Grenada has however played as a separate entity in matches which held Twenty20 status,but has not appeared in first-class or List A cricket. The team's coach,as of November 2013,is Ricky Williams. The team currently has two captains:Devon Smith,who captains the two-day team,and Andre Fletcher who captains the 20-over team.

The team is not a member of the International Cricket Council,but the Montserrat Cricket Association is a member of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association,which itself is a member association of the West Indies Cricket Board,and players from Montserrat generally represent the Leeward Islands cricket team at domestic level and the West Indies at international level. Montserrat has however played as a separate entity in matches which held Twenty20 status,but has not appeared in first-class or List A cricket. The team was previously coached by Abdiel Hughes,who was appointed in April 2012. Their former captain was McPherson Meade.
Sherfane Eviston Rutherford is a Guyanese cricketer. He made his Twenty20 International debut for the West Indies against Bangladesh on 22 December 2018 and his One Day International debut in December 2023 against England.
The Guyana women's national cricket team is the women's representative cricket team of the country of Guyana. They compete in the Women's Super50 Cup and the Twenty20 Blaze.
The India cricket team toured the West Indies and the United States during July and August 2022 to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODIs and the first T20I took place in Trinidad and Tobago,the next two T20Is were played in St. Kitts and Nevis,with the final two T20Is played in Lauderhill,Florida.
