Mark Mercedes is an Australian professional wrestler and promoter, currently owning and promoting the International Wrestling Australia he was one of the few Australians to wrestle for World Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling All-Stars. [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]

Professional wrestling career

Early years and training

He became an amateur wrestler when he was 18 and shortly won the City of Sydney, New South Wales State and Australian Championships and competed in Olympic game trials [7] [10] then gained his initial professional wrestling training at the Malenko's Wrestling School in Florida in 1992. [11] [12]

International exploits

World Championship Wrestling

In 1993 he worked on WCW Saturday Night and WCW WorldWide and wrestled Rick Rude on WCW Television [11] [13] Programs he also performed on WCW Monday Nitro and wrestled Rick Martel in front of 30,000 fans at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. [11] [3] Mercedes performed in dark matches on the 2000 WCW Australian Tour. [3] [12] [10]

Europe

Mercedes wrestled for Catch Wrestling Association on a seven-month tour in 1997 [3] [10] [14]

New Zealand and World Wrestling All-Stars

In 1993 Mercedes was on the New Zealand Grand Prix National Wrestling Tour [15] and he appeared on a worldwide pay-per-view event WWA: The Reckoning and lost to Rick Steiner. [11] [16] [17]

Japan

He went on tour with Muga World Pro Wrestling now known as Dradition Pro-Wrestling in 2006 and 2007 [18] [19]

The IWGP Heavyweight Championship was a professional wrestling world heavyweight championship owned by the New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) promotion. "IWGP" is the acronym of NJPW's governing body, the International Wrestling Grand Prix. The title was introduced on June 12, 1987, in the final of an IWGP tournament. It was unified with the IWGP Intercontinental Championship on March 4, 2021 to form the new IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

The IWA World Championship is the major title in the IWA Mid-South based in Louisville, Kentucky. The title debuted at the "Crowning of a Champion" event on April 3, 1997, when Tower of Doom won a twelve-man tournament. There have been a total of 125 reigns among 59 champions and 19 vacancies. Tower of Doom was the inaugural champion, having defeated Ox Harley and Bull Pain in a tournament final three-way match on April 4, 1997, at Crowning of Champion. On June 14, 2022, Jake Crist vacated the title after failing to receive payment. As a result, the company ceased operations and the title was deactivated.

The IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship is a professional wrestling world junior heavyweight championship owned by the New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) promotion. "IWGP" is the acronym of NJPW's governing body, the International Wrestling Grand Prix. Only wrestlers under the junior heavyweight weight-limit may hold the championship. NJPW currently controls two junior heavyweight championships: the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. The weight-limit for the title is 100 kg (220 lb). The current champion is El Desperado, who is in his third reign. He won the title by defeating Hiromu Takahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 4, 2024.

Edward M. Wright was an American professional wrestler who became popular in the late 1950s and 1960s. Despite racial tension in the United States, he became wildly popular as a babyface. Ramón S. Torres was an American professional wrestler.
