Mark Homer (born August 28,1962) is a former Democratic politician who represented District 3 in the Texas House of Representatives from 1999 to 2010. [1] He was a member of the Committee on Culture,Recreation and Tourism and Vice-Chair of the Committee on Judiciary in 2008. [2]
In the 1998 Democratic primary,Homer defeated B. D. Blount with 67% of the vote. [3] Homer then defeated Sue Fancher in his first legislative race in November 1998,winning 57% of the vote. [4] In the 2000 Democratic primary,Homer won 82% of the vote against Patricia Blount. [5] He then ran unopposed in the 2000 [6] and in the 2002 general Elections. [7]
In the 2004 Democratic primary,he won 79% of the vote,defeating Richard Bradley Weemes. [8] In that year's general election,he was re-elected by a margin of about 300 votes,defeating Republican Kirby Hollingsworth,carrying only two counties in District 3. [9] In 2005,he expressed dissatisfaction with the House leadership during a special session for school funding. [10] In 2006,Homer served on the Committee on Environmental Regulation,the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars,and the Committee on Licensing and Administrative Procedures. He chaired the Occupational Licensing Subcommittee. Republican State Senator Bill Ratliff,a former lieutenant governor,supported Homer's 2006 bid for re-election. [11] On November 8,2006,he won by a substantial margin against Hollingsworth,carrying five of the six counties in the district. [12]
In 2008,he was again opposed by Hollingsworth in his bid for re-election. [13] About a week before the election,Homer's campaign reported about $192,000 in contributions. He received support from such groups as teachers,realtors,small business owners,municipal employees,architects,and farmers. [14]
Homer is married with three children. He received a degree in animal science from Texas A&M University in 1984 and an MBA from Angelo State University in 1988. He co-owns Sonic Drive-In franchises and has worked as a meat buyer for Safeway Supermarkets. He serves as a member of the Texas Legislative Tourism Caucus,as a member of the board of the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute,as vice chair of the Texas Conservative Coalition,and as director of the Texas Legislative Sportsman Caucus. [15] In 2008,he received the Champion of Rural Health Care Award. [16]
Joseph Linus Barton is an American politician. A member of the Republican Party,he represented Texas's 6th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1985 to 2019. The district included Arlington,part of Fort Worth,and several small towns and rural areas south of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. He was also a member of the Tea Party Caucus. In 2014,Barton became the longest-serving member of the Texas congressional delegation.

Leticia Rosa Magdalena Aguilar Van de Putte (née San Miguel;born December 6,1954) is an American politician from San Antonio,Texas. She represented the 26th District in the Texas Senate from 1999–2015. From 1991 to 1999,Van de Putte was a member of the Texas House of Representatives. In 2014,she was the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor but lost the general election,58-39 percent,to her Republican senatorial colleague,Dan Patrick of Houston. Following that defeat,she then resigned from the Texas Senate to run for mayor of San Antonio,which she narrowly lost to Ivy Taylor,52-48 percent.

President Barack Obama won the Democratic Party nomination by securing more than the required 2,383 delegates on April 3,2012,after a series of primary elections and caucuses. He was formally nominated by the 2012 Democratic National Convention on September 5,2012,in Charlotte,North Carolina.
During the 2012 presidential primaries,51 individuals sought the nomination of the Democratic Party. Incumbent President Barack Obama won the nomination unanimously at the 2012 Democratic National Convention and was re-elected as president in the general election by defeating Republican nominee Mitt Romney. As expected for the incumbent president,Obama won every primary election,but faced more difficulty than projected. Fifteen additional candidates appeared on primary ballots,and of these,four appeared on more than one ballot. Four qualified for convention delegates including:attorney John Wolfe,Jr.,prison inmate Keith Russell Judd,perennial candidate Jim Rogers,and anti-abortion activist Randall Terry. Each of these had their delegates stripped prior to the convention due to technicalities.
