Markus Vuorela (born 28 May 1996) is a Finnish cross-country skier.
At the Junior World Championships he competed in 2016, 2017 (U23) and 2019 (U23) with his best individual finish being 13th in the 2017 sprint. [1]
He made his World Cup debut in March 2018 in Lahti, but went several years without collecting World Cup points. During the 2021 Tour de Ski, he performed well in Val di Fiemme with a 16th and 7th place, ensuring a 27th place overall. [1] [2] YLE called him "the major blue-white sensation" during the tour. [3] In the run-up to the 2021-22 FIS Cross-Country World Cup, he sustained a fracture in his wrist. [4] Still, from 2022 he collected World Cup points more or less consistently, breaking into the top 20 several times. [1]
Vuorela also competed at the 2021 and 2023 World Championships, with his best finish being 28th in the 15 kilometre freestyle race in 2021. [1] He was brought into the 2023 squad as a reserve for Arsi Ruuskanen. [5]
Vasaloppet is an annual long distance cross-country ski race held on the first Sunday of March. The 90 km (56 mi) course starts in the village of Berga, just south of Sälen in western Dalarna, Sweden, and ends in the town of Mora in the central part of the province. It is the oldest cross-country ski race in the world, as well as the one with the highest number of participants.
Torgny Mogren is a Swedish former cross-country skier who competed from 1984 to 1998. He won the gold medal in the 4 × 10 km relay at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. His best individual finish was a fifth in the combined pursuit at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville.

The Tour de Ski (TdS) is a cross-country skiing event held annually since the 2006–07 season in Central Europe, modeled on the Tour de France of cycling. The Tour de Ski is a Stage World Cup event in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup. Each Tour de Ski has consisted of six to nine stages, held during late December and early January in the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. As of 2023, the prize money for the event amount to 770,000 Swiss francs (779,000 euros), shared out on both men and women. Men's and women's events are held together on the same days, with the only difference being the distance skied.
Måns Petter Albert Sahlén Zelmerlöw is a Swedish singer and television presenter. He took part in Idol 2005, eventually finishing fifth, won the first season of Let's Dance, and scored a hit with his 2007 song "Cara Mia", which was his entry in that year's Melodifestivalen. Zelmerlöw was the host of Allsång på Skansen from 2011 to 2013. He participated in Melodifestivalen in 2007, 2009 and won in 2015. Zelmerlöw represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Heroes", winning the contest with 365 points. Zelmerlöw and Petra Mede co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 held in Stockholm.
The FIS Cross-Country World Cup is an annual cross-country skiing competition, arranged by the International Ski Federation (FIS) since 1981. The competition was arranged unofficially between 1973 and 1981, although it received provisional recognition on the 31st FIS Congress, 29–30 April 1977 in Bariloche, Argentina.
