The Sultanate of Palembang Darussalam was a sultanate in Indonesia whose capital was the city of Palembang in the southern part of the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It was proclaimed in 1659 by Susuhunan Abdurrahman (1659–1706) and dissolved by the colonial government of the Dutch East Indies on October 7, 1823. In 1825, its last ruler, Sultan Ahmad Najamuddin, was arrested and sent into exile on the island of Banda Neira in the Moluccas.
Operation Boomerang was a partially successful air raid by the United States Army Air Forces' (USAAF) XX Bomber Command against oil refining facilities in Japanese-occupied Dutch East Indies during World War II. The attack took place on the night of 10/11 August 1944 and involved attempts to bomb an oil refinery at Palembang and lay mines to interdict the Musi River.
The Bible Society for the Netherlands and Flanders is a non-denominational Bible society in the Netherlands and Flanders devoted to translating, publishing, and distributing the Bible at affordable costs. Cees Houtman, Cornelis Houtman is a Dutch emeritus professor of Old Testament at the Protestant Theological University in Kampen-1. After 2006 he focused on topics of book and church history, and the reception of the Bible in Dutch-language literature from the eighteenth century onwards.
The NBV21 is an ecumenical Dutch-language Bible translation, created by the Dutch-Flemish Bible Society and published in 2021. The NBV21 is a revised version of the New Bible Translation of 2004. In comparison to the NBV, around 12,000 edits were made to the NBV21. A major difference was the implementation of highly-requested reverential capitalization, in addition to other edits motivated by new discoveries in Biblical studies. Reactions of readers to the previous version were also taken into account in the NBV21.
The Nieuwe Bijbelvertaling is an ecumenical Dutch-language Bible translation, published by the Dutch-Flemish Bible Society and the Catholic Bible Foundation in 2004. A revision of the NBV, the NBV21, was released in late 2021.
