Marooned are a U.S.-based a cappella Irish folk/shanty band based in Las Vegas. They were formed in 1995.

History

Marooned first performed at the Las Vegas Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival in 1995. Their influence was recognized by inclusion and citation of their version of "Look at the Coffin" in the Mallory & McCall's Irish Pub Songbook. [1] They performed at a number of small festivals and local venues until the release of their self-titled debut CD. Their first CD, was recorded at Studio on the Hill in Poway, California over the course of a weekend. The band began touring further, heading to Northern California. In 1999 Marooned (along with the Jackstraws) appeared at the final A&E Networks tall ship battle to promote the new Horatio Hornblower movies. [2]

In 2006, Marooned was named one of the Top 5 Music groups by the Renaissance Festival Music Podcast. [3]

After becoming regulars at Gen Con, [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] Marooned released their second CD, Better Than Live, at Gen Con in 2007. The CD went on to be named the #2 Renaissance Festival album of 2007. [14]

Of specific note, since their first year, Marooned has been part of five charity CD compilations to benefit the city of New Orleans (Circle and Lafitte's Return Vol. 1-4) and continues to make limited appearances across the country. While the group only appears on volumes 1 & 3 of the Lafitte's Return series, member Bob Brinkman produced the CDs and appears as a backup vocalist on Dead Men Tell No Tales (vol. 2) and the Derelict (vol. 4). They have also appeared at the John Levique Pirate Days, [15] [16] a Florida Hurricane Awareness event.

In 2014, Marooned released "On the Scalding Sea: The Music of ElfWood", the soundtrack to the ElfWood setting [17] of the Sixcess RPG by Harsh Realities.

On August 23, 2020, the band announced that former member Andrew Meyers had died from complications arising from Covid-19 [18]

The Pacifica Quartet is a professional string quartet based in Bloomington, Indiana. Its members are: Simin Ganatra, first violin; Austin Hartman, second violin; Mark Holloway, viola; and Brandon Vamos, cello. Formed in 1994 by Ganatra and Vamos with violinist Sibbi Bernhardsson and violist Kathryn Lockwood, the group won prizes in competitions such as the 1996 Coleman Chamber Music Competition, the 1997 Concert Artists Guild Competition, and the 1998 Naumburg Chamber Music Competition. In 2001, violist Masumi Per Rostad replaced Lockwood. The group subsequently received Chamber Music America's prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award in 2002, the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2006, and was named "Ensemble of the Year" by Musical America in 2009. In 2017, violinist Austin Hartman replaced Bernhardsson and violist Guy Ben-Ziony replaced Rostad.

"I'll Tell Me Ma" is a well-known children's song. It was collected in various parts of England in the 19th century and again appears in collections from shortly after the turn of the 20th century. In Ireland the chorus usually refers to Belfast city and is known colloquially as "The Belle of Belfast City", although it is also adapted to other Irish cities, such as Dublin. English versions refer to the "Golden City" or "London City". This song is Roud Folk Song Index number 2649.

Bounding Main American a cappella sea shanty quintet

Bounding Main is an American a cappella quintet focusing on traditional sea shanties and maritime music.

Lana Chapel is the daughter of songwriter and country and rock & roll singer Jean Chapel aka Mattie O'Neil, and her husband, western swing artist and songwriter/musician/comedian, Salty Holmes, of the Prairie Ramblers.

John Link is a New York composer and is one of the founders of Friends and Enemies of New Music.

EXIT project is an instrumental, nu jazz, world, IDM, electronic music, art rock, experimental music, and jazz fusion band from Russia. The band created its own unique style which was labeled as art-fusion. Of all the variety of music ever released under EXIT project logo one thing is always common: a subtle mixture of live instruments and electronics. Dan Cummins is an American stand-up comedian and podcast host. His first comedy album, Revenge is Near, distributed by Warner Bros. Records, was ranked as one of the top 10 comedy CDs of 2009 by Punchline Magazine. His first hour-long special for Comedy Central, titled Crazy With A Capital F, premiered May 29, 2010. Fen (band) British black metal band

Fen is a British post-black metal band formed in 2006 from the Fens of East Anglia signed to the label Code666. Their Myspace page reports that they "draw the listener into a windswept and desolate landscape, bereft of hope". In 2006 they recorded the Ancient Sorrow EP and January 2009 saw the release of the first full-length album The Malediction Fields under the CODE666 record label. In 2011 they released the second studio album Epoch, gaining positive reviews in leading magazines Metal Hammer (8/10) and Terrorizer magazine (7.5/10). The album was launched at the Bull & Gate venue in London with support from Old Corpse Road on 11 February 2011.

Danny Birt is an American-born music therapist and massage therapist, but is more widely known as an author of science fiction and fantasy literary works, and as a composer and performer of filk and other music.

Henry Phillips is a musical comedian from Los Angeles known for his Comedy Central Presents special, his songs for two award-winning musicals, Blake: the Musical and Chips, and for co-writing and starring in the semi-autobiographical movie Punching the Clown which won several awards, most notably the Audience Award at the Slamdance Film Festival and is critically acclaimed, currently holding an 86% fresh rating on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. SEAY Musical artist

SEAY is an American award-winning New-age music artist and humanitarian who has gained prominence as both a vocalist and composer. She has released multiple recordings, many of which have received awards and nominations. Her 2016 release In the Garden featuring collaborations with Grammy Award winners Ricky Kej and Wouter Kellerman charted on the Billboard New Age albums chart for five weeks peaking at #3 and won the Zone Music Reporter best vocal album of the year.
