The Marshall Islands national futsal team represents the Marshall Islands during international futsal competitions. It was formed in 2024 and is controlled by the Marshall Islands Soccer Federation.

History

In 2023, plans for the first ever international fixture for the Marshall Islands were unveiled, with a goal set for 2024. [1] The first futsal tournaments were held on the islands in late 2023 and 2024, with the launch of the Marshall Islands Futsal League and the Ratak Cup. [2] The first international fixtures were announced as the 2024 Outrigger Challenge Cup, scheduled to be played from 22 July to 24 July 2024 against Micronesia and Kiribati. [3]

The Northern Mariana Islands national football team represents the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands in international men's football. The team is controlled by the governing body for football in the Northern Mariana Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association, which is a member of the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) and since December 2020 a full member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The association is not a member of the world governing body FIFA, although it had applied for membership, and so while the national team is eligible to enter AFC and EAFF-run competitions, they are currently ineligible for global competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. As such, they do not have an official FIFA ranking. However, the team have been consistently ranked as one of the worst teams in the world on the Elo ratings and were in fact, in July 2016 rated as the worst men's senior international team in the world in a ratings system that also includes a number of other non-FIFA teams.

The Japan national futsal team, nicknamed Samurai Five, represents Japan in international futsal competitions and is controlled by the Japan Football Association.

The Portugal national futsal team represents Portugal in international men's futsal competitions and is controlled by the Portuguese Football Federation. They are the reigning FIFA Futsal World Cup champions, the current and back-to-back winners of the UEFA Futsal Championship, and the first team to win the Futsal Finalissima.

The Japan national beach soccer team represents Japan in international beach soccer competitions and is controlled by the JFA, the governing body for football in Japan. The U.S. Futsal Federation was founded in 1981 and the first international futsal match played by the U.S. National Futsal Team was in May 1984 in Nanaimo, Canada where the United States won, 6–5. The first international futsal match in the United States was held in December, 1985, at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California. The U.S. select team, defeated Australia, 9–5.

The Canadian national futsal team represents Canada in international men’s futsal competitions. They are overseen by the Canadian Soccer Association, the governing body for soccer in Canada.

The Nauru national soccer team is the national team that represents the Pacific island nation of Nauru in soccer. It is under the auspices of the Nauru Soccer Federation which hopes to become a member of the OFC and FIFA and compete in official competitions of the organisations.

The Marshall Islands Soccer Federation is the governing body of soccer in the Marshall Islands. Marshall Islands is not a member of its regional body, the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC), or FIFA, but is working on becoming one. The federation is recognized by the Marshall Islands National Olympic Committee. It currently organizes the national team, national futsal team, and women's national futsal team.

The Marshall Islands national football team represents the Pacific island nation of the Marshall Islands in senior men's international football and is controlled by the Marshall Islands Soccer Federation. It hopes to become a member of the OFC and FIFA in the "coming years" and compete in official competitions of the organizations. In an October 2023 interview with the Associated Press, Technical Director Lloyd Owers stated that the association was keeping all options open, including joining the Asian Football Confederation.

The 2024 Outrigger Challenge Cup was be an international futsal tournament organized by the Marshall Islands Soccer Federation, and hosted in Majuro from 22 to 24 July 2024. Six teams took part in the tournament. The tournament was originally announced as the Men's Futsal Series, to be played against Micronesia, but after Kiribati's participation was announced, the name was officially changed to the Outrigger Challenge Cup.

The Federated States of Micronesia national futsal team represents the Federated States of Micronesia in international futsal. It was formed in 2024 under the auspices of the Federated States of Micronesia Football Association.
