Marshall Kent (born September 21, 1992) is an American ten-pin bowler from Yakima, Washington now residing in Clarkston, Michigan. He currently competes on the PBA Tour and World Bowling Tour. He has been a member of Junior Team USA, and is a six-time member of Team USA. He has won seven PBA Tour titles (including one major) and five PBA Regional titles. [2]

After 8 years as a member of the Storm Bowling pro staff, Kent accepted a sponsorship agreement with BIG Bowling in 2021. [3] After the PBA removed BIG Bowling as a registered product, Kent signed a sponsorship agreement with Hammer Bowling in 2023. [1] He is also sponsored by Turbo Grips, Dexter shoes and Apparel EFX.

Amateur career

Kent was a three-time member of Junior Team USA, and has been a Team USA member since 2012. He was a two-time Collegiate Player of the Year (2011–12 and 2012–13) bowling for Robert Morris University in Chicago, Illinois, [1] where he also earned a degree in Business Administration. [2]

Kent won a gold medal in trios at the 2011 PABCON Youth Championships, and was the 2012 Russian Open Champion. [1] He won two gold medals (singles and team) in the 2012 World Youth Championships, and a team gold medal in the 2012 PABCON Championships. [1]

Kent won the 2014 Brunswick Euro Challenge as an amateur, and thus his win did not qualify for a PBA title. [1]

Professional bowling career

Shortly after his Brunswick Euro Challenge win in March 2014, Kent joined the Professional Bowlers Association. He was named the 2014 Harry Golden PBA Rookie of the Year, having won the Kingdom International Open for his first PBA Tour title. [1] He picked up his second win at the PBA Team Challenge in 2016. 2017 was Kent's first year with multiple PBA Tour wins, as he won his first two singles titles on US soil. His second win of the season in the PBA Oklahoma Open was his first on US television. He finished the season fourth in PBA earnings, with a career-best $115,530. [1] [5] To date (through 2023 season end), he has over $600,000 in career PBA earnings. Through 2021, he had 17 career 300 games in PBA competition. [1]

Despite a career-high five championship round appearances, Kent failed to win a title in the 2018 PBA Tour season. He did win the non-title season-ending PBA Clash event on December 23. [6]

Kent won his fifth PBA Tour title on March 6, 2022 in the Roth-Holman Doubles Championship, as he and partner E. J. Tackett climbed the ladder from the #4 seed. [7] Despite the title, Kent's 2022 season saw him post career lows in cashes (4), average (206.84) and earnings ($22,450).

On February 10, 2024, Kent won his sixth PBA Tour title, his first singles title since 2017, at the PBA Illinois Classic. After qualifying as the top seed, he defeated A.J. Johnson in his lone TV finals match to take the championship. [8]

On April 28, 2024, Kent won the PBA Tournament of Champions. As the #4 seed, he defeated Jason Sterner, Matthew Ogle, E.J. Tackett, and Anthony Simonsen en route to his first major and seventh PBA Tour title. He took home the top prize of $100,000 for the largest payday in his career. The win moved Kent up to second place on the PBA points list through the end of the spring season, behind only Tackett. [9]

In addition to his seven standard PBA Tour wins, Kent has five PBA Regional Tour titles and a runner-up finish at the 2016 U.S. Open. [1] [10]

Personal

From 2013 to early 2018, Marshall dated PWBA bowler Danielle McEwan. The two initially met when both were members of Junior Team USA, but did not officially become a couple until representing Team USA at an event in Bangkok, Thailand. [12] After almost five years of dating, McEwan and Kent went their separate ways for unspecified personal reasons. His current girlfriend, Cassandra, was in the audience for Kent's 2024 PBA Tournament of Champions win, sitting next to his mother. [13]

Originally from Yakima, Washington, Kent relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2019. [14] Late in 2023, Kent relocated again to suburban Detroit in Michigan. [8] In his Fox TV appearance on February 25, 2024, his profile showed his residence as Clarkston, Michigan.

He was known for his flamboyant, fiery demeanor and his success on the PBA Tour from the mid-1970s to the end of the 1980s. He is one of only 17 players in history to reach at least 20 career PBA Tour titles. Holman was sponsored by Columbia 300 and Nike.

Tommy Jones is an American professional bowler currently competing on the PBA Tour. He is a member of the PBA Hall of Fame and the USBC Hall of Fame. He is also an 11-time member of Team USA.

Sean Rash is an American ten-pin bowler who is considered one of the top players on the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour. He currently owns 17 PBA Tour titles, including two major championships, and was the 2011–12 PBA Player of the Year. Rash has rolled two of his 30 career PBA perfect 300 games on television, making him the first player in history with multiple perfect games in the TV finals of a PBA Tour event. Canadian François Lavoie and American Chris Via, and Australian Jason Belmonte have since joined Rash in this exclusive club. Rash has also been on the losing end of four televised 300 games, more than any other player. Sean owns ten PBA Regional Tour titles.

Wesley Clint "Big Nasty" Malott is an American professional ten-pin bowler and member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA). Originally from Pflugerville, Texas, he now resides in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He has won ten PBA Tour titles, and was the 2008–09 Chris Schenkel PBA Player of the Year. He won his lone major championship at the 2012–13 U.S. Open, and has finished runner-up in five other PBA major tournaments. Malott also won the 2006–07 Showplace Lanes Megabucks Shootout, which was not a PBA Tour event. He won the non-title PBA King of Bowling event in 2009, and defended his King position eight consecutive times through 2018.

Ryan Jacob "Rhino" Page is a left-handed bowler on the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour, and was the 2008 PBA Rookie of the Year. He is also a former U.S. Amateur champion, winning the event in 2005. A San Diego, California native, Page now resides in Spokane, Washington. Page attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. He helped the Jayhawks win the school's first-ever Intercollegiate Bowling Championship in 2004, and was named the MVP of the championships.

William O'Neill is a right-handed professional ten-pin bowler who competes on the PBA Tour in North America. A resident of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, his nickname on tour is "The Real Deal". O'Neill has won 14 PBA Tour titles, including three major championships at the 2009–10 U.S. Open and the 2020 and 2024 PBA Players Championship.

Danielle McEwan is an American professional ten-pin bowler from Stony Point, New York. She currently competes on the PWBA Tour and in some events on the PBA Tour. She has been a member of Junior Team USA, and is a multi-year and current member of Team USA.

Kyle Troup is an American professional ten-pin bowler from Taylorsville, North Carolina, now residing in Mt. Washington, Kentucky. He uses the two-handed shovel-style delivery with a dominant right hand. Troup says he needed two hands when learning to throw the ball as a young child, calling himself self-taught in that regard.

Tom Daugherty is a right-handed American professional ten-pin bowler residing in Riverview, Florida. He is a member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA), having joined in 2001. He is one of the few PBA bowlers to successfully use the one-handed no-thumb delivery. Although Daugherty has won four PBA Tour titles and 22 PBA Regional titles, he is perhaps best known for rolling a nationally-televised 100 game at the 2011 PBA Tournament of Champions, the lowest score ever bowled in a televised PBA event.

Anthony Walter Simonsen is an American professional ten-pin bowler. He has been a member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) since 2014. Simonsen became known in bowling fan circles early in the 2016 season, when he earned the distinction as the youngest player in history to win a PBA major championship. He is now the youngest player in history to own five major PBA Tour titles. He uses the two-handed shovel-style delivery with a dominant right hand. At age 25, Simonsen eclipsed $1 million in career PBA earnings during the 2022 season. Simonsen has also bowled internationally as a multi-year member of Team USA.

Eddie Dean Tackett Jr. is an American professional ten-pin bowler. A member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) since 2012, Tackett has won 23 PBA Tour titles, including five major championships, and is one of nine professional bowlers that have completed the PBA Triple Crown. He was named PBA Player of the Year for the 2016 and 2023 seasons, and was runner-up for the award in 2017 and 2018. Tackett is right-handed and uses a cranker-style delivery. He has been called a "unicorn" in the sport, because of his ability to use a one-handed, thumb-in delivery to achieve RPM rates comparable to most two-handed bowlers.

Andrew Anderson of Holly, Michigan is a right-handed American professional ten-pin bowler known for winning the 2018 USBC Masters. He competes in events on the PBA Tour and in global events as a member of Team USA. In his second full season on the PBA Tour (2018), Anderson won the Chris Schenkel PBA Player of the Year Award.

Jakob Butturff is a left-handed American ten-pin bowler from Chandler, Arizona and a member of the Professional Bowlers Association. He competes in events on the PBA Tour and in global events as a member of Team USA. He has won eight national PBA Tour titles and 27 PBA Regional Tour titles. Jakob also rolled the 28th of the PBA Tour's 35 televised 300 games.

Adam "A. J." Johnson is an American professional bowler from Oswego, Illinois. He has been a member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) since 2015. He won his first PBA Tour title in 2023. He has also been a multi-year member of Team USA, and is on the 2024 team.

Patrick "Packy" Hanrahan is an American professional ten-pin bowler who joined the Professional Bowlers Association in 2018 after a collegiate career at Wichita State University. Born in Greenwich, Connecticut, he currently resides in Wichita, Kansas. As of 2024, he is also a member of Team USA.
