Martin Kirketerp Ibsen (born 13 July 1982) is a Danish sailor in the 49er class who sails with Jonas Warrer. [1] At the 2008 Summer Olympics, they stood to win the gold medal before the final round, but their mast broke shortly before start. [2] The Croatian team lent the Danes their boat, and the Danes went on to finish seventh in the round, which would win them the gold medal. [3]

Kirketerp has a blog where he writes about his races and what he is doing.[ citation needed ]

He joined Team Sanaya [4] [ circular reference ] as a replacement crew member for legs 5 and 7 of the 2011–12 Volvo Ocean Race. [5] [6]

He has been a crewmember and skipper in the Volvo Ocean Race five times, onboard: movistar (2005–06), Telefónica Blue (2008–09), Telefónica (2011–12), and MAPFRE.

The mixed 49er was a sailing event on the Sailing at the 2008 Summer Olympics program in Qingdao International Sailing Centre. Sixteen races were scheduled. Only thirteen races were completed including the medal race due to lack of wind. 38 sailors, on 19 boats, from 19 nations competed. Ten boats qualified for the medal race.

Denmark competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Danish athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games, with the exception of the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis.

Pietro Sibello is an Italian sailor, who specialized in the skiff (49er) class. Together with his elder brother and eventual three-time Olympian Gianfranco, he was named one of the country's top sailors in the skiff boat for two Summer Olympic editions and came close to the medal haul in Beijing. Outside the Games, the Sibello brothers collected a career total of five medals in a major international sailing regatta, including three bronzes from the 49er Worlds and a single Europeans title received in 2009. A member of Fiamme Gialle Sports Group (Italian: Gruppi Sportivi Fiamme Gialle, Pietro trained most of his competitive sailing career under the tutelage of head coach Luca Depedrini.
