Martin McHugh was an Irish psychologist.

Martin McHugh was born in Kilkeel. He was one of the first graduates in psychology from Queen's University Belfast. ^[1]

In 1971, he was appointed the first Professor of Psychology at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

McHugh was a founding member of the Psychological Society of Ireland which was established in 1970. ^[2] He was elected the inaugural President of the Society in 1973. ^{[3] [4]}

He was the first editor of the Irish Journal of Psychology. ^[5]

He died 17 February 2016. ^[6]
