Martin McHugh was an Irish psychologist.

Martin McHugh was born in Kilkeel. He was one of the first graduates in psychology from Queen's University Belfast. [1]

In 1971, he was appointed the first Professor of Psychology at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

McHugh was a founding member of the Psychological Society of Ireland which was established in 1970. [2] He was elected the inaugural President of the Society in 1973. [3] [4]

He was the first editor of the Irish Journal of Psychology. [5]

He died 17 February 2016. [6]
