'K. Bharathi' also known as 'Marumalarchi K. Bharathi' is an Indian film director and actor who has directed village based stories.
Bharathi made his directorial debut with Chinna Pulla (1994) under the pseudonym Baskaran. [1] He later directed Maru Malarchi starring Mammootty in the lead. The film received critical acclaim, won Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Film and also earned Bharathi an award of Best dialogue writer. Bharathi's next directorial Kallazhagar starring Vijayakanth was also a success movie. An elephant called Appu was brought in from Thrissur in Kerala for the film, where the elephant formed one of a stable maintained by the famed Paaramekaavu temple, which forms the venue of the yearly Thrissur Pooram festival. [2] The film was rejected by Indian censors, because of its potential to spark religious conflicts - with particularly a scene in which some Muslim extremists masquerade themselves as religious Hindus and join in the celebration of a major festival in a temple - being highlighted as a concern. The team subsequently had to adapt the concept partially. Bharathi's third film Maanasthan starring Sarathkumar was a delayed project and received mixed reviews. [3] [4] [5] After a four-year gap, Bharathi directed Valluvan Vasuki starring newcomers, the story is about the Konar dynasty and much of the shooting was done in villages bordering the Kollidam River in Thanjavur district. In 2020, he announced Marumalarchi 2, a sequel to his earlier film. [8]

C. Subramania Bharati was a Tamil writer, poet, journalist, Indian independence activist, social reformer and polyglot. He was bestowed the title "Bharati" for his excellence in poetry. He was a pioneer of modern Tamil poetry and is considered one of the greatest Tamil literary figures of all time. He is popularly known by his mononymous title "Bharati/ Bharathiyaar," and also by the other title "Mahakavi Bharati". His numerous works included fiery songs kindling patriotism during the Indian Independence movement. He fought for the emancipation of women, against child marriage, vehemently opposed the caste system, and stood for reforming society and religion. He was also in solidarity with Dalits.
Muhammad Kutty Panaparambil Ismail, known mononymously by the hypocorism Mammootty, is an Indian actor and film producer who works predominantly in Malayalam and Tamil language films. He has also appeared in Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and English-language productions. In a career spanning five decades, he has appeared in more than 400 films, predominantly in lead roles. He is the recipient of several accolades, including three National Film Awards, eight Kerala State Film Awards, eleven Kerala Film Critics Awards and thirteen Filmfare Awards South. For his contribution to film, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri in 1998. In 2022, he was honoured with Kerala Prabha Award, the second-highest honour given by the Government of Kerala.
Karthika Menon, better known by her stage name Bhavana, is an Indian actress who predominantly appears in Malayalam and Kannada language films in addition to Tamil and Telugu films. She is the recipient of two Kerala State Film Awards and a Filmfare Award.
Radhakrishnan Parthiban is an Indian actor and filmmaker who works mainly in Tamil cinema. He has directed 15 films, produced 13 films and acted in more than 70 films. He started his career as assistant director for K. Bhagyaraj in 1984 and the duo worked in over 20 films from 1984 to 1991. Parthiban is known for having directed critically acclaimed films such as Pudhiya Paadhai (1989) and Housefull (1999) won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. He also won National Film Award – Special Jury Award in Otha Seruppu Size 7 (2019).
Kasthuri Maan is a 2005 Indian Tamil film directed by Malayalam director A. K. Lohithadas. The film, a remake of the director's own Malayalam film of same name, and his only Tamil project to date, stars Prasanna and Meera Jasmine, who reprised her role from the original. It also features Shammi Thilakan, Sarath Babu, V. M. C. Haneefa, Bharathi Kannan, Pawan, Vinodini and Suja. Kasthuri Maan's story revolves around a young college girl who helps her lover realize his dream of becoming an IAS officer amidst her own problems. The film released during Diwali 2005 and had a generally positive reception.

Prabhu Solomon is an Indian film director who has primarily worked on Tamil films. After making his directorial debut in 1999 with Kannodu Kanbathellam, he had a middling career before rising to prominence with the success of the romantic tragedy film Mynaa (2010).

Prabhu Deva, Meena and Maheswari played the leading roles, whilst the film featured an extensive cast, along with a bevy of supporting actors. The film released on 14 January 1998. The film was loosely based on the 1995 film Two Much.

Gnana Rajasekaran is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, playwright and Retired IAS Officer. His directional debut was Mogamul (1994) won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director. His other works include Bharathi (2000), Periyar (2007) and Ramanujan (2014). As of 2014, Rajasekaran has won three National Film Awards, three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. His films have been screened at international film festivals including the International Film Festival of India.

It is noteworthy in that the entire production programme from script-writing to direction was controlled and executed by students. The group of students were from the school Adarsh Kalamandir and the film was written and directed by P. Ramdas. The screenplay was based on a short story written by Ramadas himself.
Maru Malarchi (transl. Revival), also spelled as Marumalarchi, is a 1998 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Bharathi and produced by Henry. The film stars Mammootty, Devayani, Ranjith and Mansoor Ali Khan, with Manorama, Kalabhavan Mani, R. Sundarrajan, Major Sundarrajan, Vivek and Pandu playing supporting roles. It was released on 14 January 1998 and become a huge success. The film was remade in Telugu as Suryudu, in Kannada as Soorappa, and in Hindi as Phool Aur Aag.
Kallazhagar is a 1999 Indian Tamil-language action drama film directed by Bharathi, starring Vijayakanth and Laila. Nassar, Sonu Sood and Manivannan play other supporting roles, while Deva composed the score and soundtrack for the film. It was released on 6 February 1999. This is the Tamil debut of Laila and Sood.
Kutti Puli is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language action drama film directed by M. Muthaiah in his directoral debut starring Sasikumar and Lakshmi Menon while Saranya Ponvannan and Bala Saravanan play supporting roles. The film opened to mixed reviews but performed well at the box office. The movie was remade in Kannada in 2019 as Sinnga starring Chiranjeevi Sarja.
