Mary Ann Shallcross Smith (born August2,1952) is an American educator and a Democratic member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives,representing the 46th District from 2009 to 2011,and again starting in 2021. During the 2009-2010 sessions,she served on the House Committees on Constituent Services,Finance,Labor and Small Business. [1] Shallcross Smith was defeated for reelection in the 2 November 2010 general elections to Jeremiah T. O'Grady. [2] She went on to be the president and CEO of Dr. Day Care,and she founded the Business Owners of Child Care Association of Rhode Island (BOCA) in 2011. [3] Shallcross Smith was also the chairperson of the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce in 2016. [4]
David Nicola Cicilline is an American lawyer and politician who served as the U.S. representative for Rhode Island's 1st congressional district from 2011 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party,he was the 36th mayor of Providence from 2003 to 2011,the first openly gay mayor of a U.S. state capital.

A Democrat,she served in the Rhode Island House of Representatives,representing the 21st district,which contains the neighborhoods of Conimicut,Hoxsie,and parts of Hillsgrove,including the T.F. Green Airport. She was first elected to the House of Representatives November 3,1992,and was defeated in the September 13,2016,primary election in her bid to serve for a 13th term.
Thomas C. Slater (1945–2009) was a Democratic member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for 30 years,reaching the rank of Sergeant Major. He ran for office in 1994 and defeated incumbent Republican Representative Mary C. Ross for Providence Representative in the state house,and continue serving until his death in 2009. He was a member of the House Finance Committee,and he spoke against cuts to welfare benefits and children's health care,opposed an executive order cracking down on undocumented immigrants living in the state,and supported new fire codes. Medical marijuana access was a large focus for Slater and one of the final pieces of legislation that he sponsored involved the 2009 legalization of medicinal marijuana dispensaries in Rhode Island.
