Mariel Leigh Zagunis is an American sabre fencer. She is a two-time Olympic champion in the individual sabre and the first American to win a gold medal in Olympic fencing. She was chosen to be the flag bearer of the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics Parade of Nations. She also has two Olympic bronze medals in team events and is a four-time Olympian.
Sherraine Schalm, formerly Sherraine Schalm-MacKay, is a former top-ranked Canadian Olympic épée fencer. She is a World Cup medal winner, elementary school teacher and author. She is a graduate of the University of Ottawa. At the 2005 World Fencing Championships she won a bronze medal in the individual épée event, becoming the first Canadian to ever win a World Championships medal in the sport. The next season, in 2005–06, she won the overall World Cup title.
Alexandr Romankov is a former fencer from the former Soviet Union, who was born on 7 November 1953 in the town of Korsakov on the island of Sakhalin. One of the most successful Soviet fencers, he is also regarded by some as the greatest foilist of the 20th century. He trained at Dynamo in Minsk and won a gold medal, two silver medals and two bronze medals at the three Olympic Games that he competed in between 1976 and 1988.

Anja Fichtel-Mauritz is a German fencer. At the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, she won in the individual and team competitions, and she won the individual competition of the World Championship in 1986 and 1990. She was winner of the World Championships in 1985, 1989, 1993 as a member of the national German team and second in team competition at the 1992 Summer Olympics. From 1986 until 1996 Fichtel held the title of German champion.
Susan Devlin Peard is a former badminton player who represented both the USA and Ireland in international competition. She is the daughter of J. Frank Devlin, an Irish badminton great, who moved his family to the United States in the late 1930s. She is the older sister of Judy Devlin Hashman, with whom she won numerous international women's doubles championships, including six titles at the prestigious All-England Championships. The Devlin sisters won a record ten United States women's doubles titles between 1953 and 1966. They also formed a doubles pairing that won all of its individual matches for the world champion U.S. Uber Cup teams of 1957 and 1960. In 1960 Susan Devlin married Irish badminton player Frank Peard and thereafter resided in Ireland. She won two Irish national women's doubles titles and played Uber Cup for Ireland in the '62-'63 and '65-'66 campaigns. In 1976 she was inducted into the U.S. Badminton Hall of Fame, now known as the Walk of Fame. In 2009, both Susan and Judy were inducted into the Goucher College athletics Hall of Fame.
Ana Maria Brânză is a Romanian épée fencer. She earned the silver medal in the individual épée event at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games and the gold medal in the 2013 European Fencing Championships. She won the women's épée World Cup series a record-equalling three times, with thirteen World Cup titles to her name. With the Romanian team she was twice World champion and six-times European champion.
