Kauaʻi County is a county in the U.S. state of Hawaiʻi. It consists of the islands of Kauaʻi,Niʻihau,Lehua,and Kaʻula. As of the 2020 Census the population was 73,298. The county seat is Līhuʻe.

Linda Lingle is an American politician,who was the sixth governor of Hawaii from 2002 to 2010. She was the first Republican elected governor of Hawaii since 1959,and was the state's first female and first Jewish governor. Hawaii Superferry was a Hawaii-based transportation company that provided passenger and vehicle transportation between Honolulu Harbor on the island of Oʻahu and Kahului Harbor on Maui. Legal issues over environmental impact statements and protests from residents of Maui and Kauaʻi temporarily delayed the implementation of service,but service between Oʻahu and Maui began in December 2007. In the election,Neil Abercrombie defeated Lieutenant Governor Duke Aiona. Abercrombie was sworn in as the state's 7th Governor on December 6,2010. Aiona later unsuccessfully ran for Governor of Hawaii in 2014 and 2022.
Sylvia Jung Luke is a South Korean–born American attorney and politician who is serving as the 16th lieutenant governor of Hawaii. She served as a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives for 24 years,from 1998 until her election as lieutenant governor in 2022. She is the first Korean American politician ever elected to a statewide office in the United States.
"Auntie" Alice Kuʻuleialohapoʻinaʻole Kanakaoluna Nāmakelua (1892–1987) was a Hawaiian composer and performer. Nāmakelua was also a kumu hula dancer and lei-maker. She was an expert performer of the slack-key guitar and a master of the Hawaiian language. Nāmakelua was a mentor of other musicians and wrote around 180 songs of her own. She was inducted into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame in 2011.

Elsie Hart Wilcox was the first woman to serve in the Senate of the Territory of Hawaii. Dedicated to public service,she rose up through the Mokihana Club on Kauai prior to the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution giving women the legal right to vote in 1920. She was the descendant of missionaries who arrived in Hawaii during the 19th century,and was the sister of pioneer nurse Mabel Wilcox. Although born into an economically privileged family,she spent her adult life championing public school teachers,and volunteering in community services.
Nadine Kuniko Nakamura is an American politician and Democratic member of the Hawaii House of Representatives. She represents District 14,encompassing east and north Kaua`i,from Wailua to Haena. She won the seat after incumbent Democrat Derek Kawakami decided to run for a seat in the Kauai County Council. Nakamura won re-election in 2020 against Republican candidate Steve Monas,76.2% to 23.8%.
