The first series of MasterChef New Zealand was judged by Simon Gault, Ross Burden and Ray McVinnie. [1] Brett McGregor and Kelly Young competed in the final showdown with Brett emerging as the first New Zealand MasterChef.

It is a spin-off of MasterChef Australia, itself an adaptation of the British show MasterChef, and featured contestants aged 8 to 12. The first season of the show began production in July 2010 and included 50 contestants. Over 5,000 children from around the nation auditioned for the series.

MasterChef: The Professionals is a BBC television competitive cooking show which aired on BBC Two from 2008 to 2019, and on BBC One since 2020. It is a spin-off from the main MasterChef series, for professional working chefs. Introduced in 2008, Gregg Wallace and India Fisher reprised their roles as co-judge and voiceover respectively. MasterChef Malaysia is a cooking show like the other MasterChef shows in other countries, such as USA, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia, Greece, India, Sweden, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom. The show will be aired for the upcoming first season on Astro Ria.

The fourth series of the Australian cooking game show MasterChef Australia premiered on Sunday, 6 May 2012 at 7.30pm on Network Ten. Judges George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston returned from the previous series. After the first week in Melbourne, the competition took the contestants to places nationally, such as Kangaroo Island and Tasmania, as well as the international destination, Italy. It also featured a number of guest chefs, including Jamie Oliver, Rick Stein and Buddy Valastro.

The second series of MasterChef New Zealand was filmed in September 2010 and started airing on 20 February 2011. It saw the induction of Josh Emett to the judging panel, replacing series 1 judge Ross Burden. Jax Hamilton and Nadia Lim competed in the grand finale, which was screened on 15 May 2011. It consisted of four challenges: a taste test, a pressure test, a mystery box challenge and an extreme dessert challenge, each worth a maximum of 20 points, except for the pressure test, which was worth a maximum of 40 points. Nadia became New Zealand's second MasterChef, beating Jax 88 points to 75.

The third series of MasterChef New Zealand was broadcast in 2012. Filming started in November 2011. The series started on 21 February 2012. This season the number of contestants changed from 12 to 16, also increasing the number of episode from 12-13 to 16-17. The winner was Chelsea Winter, who beat runner-up Ana Schwarz 77 points to 72.

The fourth series of MasterChef New Zealand was on air from 21 February 2013, with the chefs Simon Gault, Ray McVinnie, Josh Emett again acting as the series judges. The season was won by Aaron Brunet, narrowly beating runner-up Paula Saengthian-ngam by 75 points to 74.

The fifth series of the Australian cooking game show MasterChef Australia premiered Sunday 2 June 2013 on Network Ten, with replays airing at 11am the following day.

The fifth series of MasterChef New Zealand was announced in May 2013. Unlike previous series, this series was based around pairs of contestants, similar to the format of Australian series My Kitchen Rules. The series premiered on 2 February 2014. It ran from 7:30 pm through 8:30 pm. Regular episodes aired on Sundays and Mondays, and MasterClass episodes on Saturdays. It was integrated with social media with the hashtag #MasterChefNZ. Karena and Kasey Bird won, with Bec Stanley and Jaimie Stodler as the runners-up.

The sixth series of MasterChef New Zealand was announced in October 2014 in a TV3 lineup after TVNZ axed the series after 5 seasons. It premiered on 26 July 2015. Al Brown and New Zealand Co-Restaurateurs of the Year Mark Wallbank join the judging panel with Josh Emett, replacing Ray McVinnie and Simon Gault. Episodes aired on Sundays and Mondays.

My Kitchen Rules NZ is a reality television cooking programme which aired on TVNZ 2.

The twelfth series of the Australian cooking game show MasterChef Australia, also known as MasterChef Australia: Back To Win and MasterChef: Back to Win, premiered on 13 April 2020 on both Network 10 and WIN Television. It is the first series to feature series four winner Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo serving as judges, after the departure of Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston in the previous season. This series involves former high-achieving contestants from the past eleven series of MasterChef Australia, returning for another chance at the title of 'MasterChef' and a prize of A$250,000.
