Mateo Morrison Fortunato (born 14 April 1946) is a Dominican writer, lawyer, poet and essayist. He won the Premio Nacional de Literatura of the Dominican Republic in 2010. [1]
Morrison is the son of Egbert Morrison, a native of Jamaica, and Efigenia Fortunato. He studied at the Latin American and Caribbean Center for Cultural Development in Venezuela, majoring in Cultural Management. He started the Cesar Vallejo Literary Workshop in the latter part of the 1970s and, in 2010, became the twentieth recipient of the Premio Nacional de Literatura, being honored especially for his poetry. [2] He was director of the Department of Culture of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) and has served as the Sub-Secretary of Culture for the Dominican Republic since his appointment in 2008 by Leonel Fernández.
José Agustín Ramírez Gómez was a Mexican novelist, short story writer, essayist and screenwriter. Publishing under the pen name José Agustín, he was considered one of the most influential and prolific Mexican writers of the second half of the 20th century.

Alberto Ulloa was a painter, sculptor, and poet from Altamira, Dominican Republic. He was a student of the distinguished Latin American painter Jaime Colson, who also mentored Mario Carreño, the Cuban-Chilean master. Ulloa also studied drawing with illustrator and painter Domingo Liz.
"El Farolito" is a song recorded by Dominican singer Juan Luis Guerra for his seventh studio album, Fogaraté (1994), included as its eighth track. It was composed and produced by Guerra and the Dominican accordionist Francisco Ulloa and his band. The track is a Perico Ripiao, better known as merengue tipico, a rural version of merengue and it describes the curves of the body of a lover and his feelings for her. According Guerra, "El Farolito" is his favorite track on the album. The track was received well by the critics and according to some is "a kind of higher-class version of merengue típico".
Jeannette Miller is a writer, poet, narrator essayist and art historian of Dominican art. She was awarded the National Literature prize from her country in 2011.
