Mateus Magala is a Mozambican economist,engineer and politician who has served as the Minister of Transport and Communications of Mozambique since June 2022. He had previously served as the Vice President for Corporate Services and Human Resources,of the African Development Bank from September 2018 until his appointment as a cabinet minister. Magala is also a former chairman of Electricidade de Moçambique,the country's electricity distributor.
Magala obtained a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Brno Academy in the Czech Republic in 1990. Magala went on to receive a master's degree in Transport Economics and Management in 1997,a Master of Business Administration in 1998 as well as a master's degree in Economics and Econometrics in 2000 from Victoria University. Magala held multiple positions during his time at the African Development Bank from 2008 to 2015. On 25 August 2015,he was appointed President of the Board of Directors of the Electricidade de Moçambique following the dismissal of Gildo Sibumbe by the Council of Ministers. [2]
In August 2018,Magala was appointed vice president for Corporate Services and Human Resources at the African Development Bank. A resolution to release from the presidency of the state electricity company was approved by cabinet in October of the same year. [3]
In June 2022,Magala was appointed as Minister of Transport and Communications by Mozambican president Filipe Nyusi. [4]

Electricidade de Moçambique,E.P. is a state-owned energy company of Mozambique,which deals with the generation,transmission,distribution and sale of electricity. EDM was incorporated in 1995 after the privatization of the state-managed enterprise Electricidade de Moçambique,Empresa Estatal (EDM-E.E.),which had been set up in 1977,two years after the independence of Mozambique,by the new government of the People's Republic of Mozambique led by the FRELIMO party. In 1977,EDM emerged from the amalgamation of twenty-five separate generation and distribution units geographically dispersed across Mozambique.

He replaced Luísa Diogo as Finance Minister in February 2005. His work as Finance Minister was intertwined in a debt scandal. In January 2015 when President Filipe Nyusi assumed office he replaced Chang as Finance Minister with Adriano Maleiane.

Ressano Garcia Thermal Power Station is a 175 MW (235,000 hp) natural gas-fired thermal power plant located in the town of Ressano Garcia in the Maputo Province of Mozambique.
Temane Thermal Power Station,is a 450 megawatts (600,000 hp) natural gas power plant under construction in Mozambique. When completed,the energy generated will be purchased by Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM),the government-owned electric utility company,under a long-term power purchase agreement.
The Metoro Solar Power Station is a 41 megawatts solar power plant in Mozambique. The power station was developed by a consortium comprising Neoen,a French independent power producer (IPP),based in Paris,France and Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM),the Mozambican electricity utility company. Construction began in October 2020,with commercial commissioning expected in the fourth quarter of 2021.
The Namaacha Wind Power Station,is a 120 megawatts (160,000 hp) wind-powered electricity power station under construction in Mozambique. It is the first grid-ready wind energy infrastructure in the country. It is under development by EleQtra Mozambique Limited,a subsidiary of the American independent power producer,EleQtra. The power station will be developed in two phases of 60 megawatts each. The estimated construction budget is US$280 million. The energy generated here will be sold directly to Electricidade de Moçambique,the Mozambican electric utility company,under a long-term power purchase agreement.
