Trampolining or trampoline gymnastics is a competitive Olympic sport in which athletes perform acrobatics while bouncing on a trampoline. In competition, these can include simple jumps in the straight, pike, tuck, or straddle position to more complex combinations of forward and/or backward somersaults and twists. Scoring is based on the difficulty and on the total seconds spent in the air. Points are deducted for bad form and horizontal displacement from the center of the bed.
At the 2000 Summer Olympics, three different gymnastics disciplines were contested: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and trampoline. The artistic gymnastics and trampoline events were held at the Sydney SuperDome on 16–25 September and 22–23 September, respectively. The rhythmic gymnastics events were held at Pavilion 3 of the Sydney Olympic Park on 28 September – 1 October.
At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, three disciplines of gymnastics were contested: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline. The artistic gymnastics and trampoline events were held at the Olympic Indoor Hall and the rhythmic gymnastics events were held at the Galatsi Olympic Hall.
Karen Cockburn is a Canadian trampoline gymnast. She won a bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the individual event. She won a gold medal at the 2003 Trampoline World Championships in Hannover, Germany in the same event and a bronze in the team event. At the 2004 Summer Olympics and 2008 Summer Olympics, she won a silver medal in the individual event.
David Ross is a Canadian trampolining coach and manufacturer of trampolines and trampoline equipment. Ross is arguably the person most responsible for Canadian trampolinists becoming competitive on the international scene.
George Peter Nissen was an American gymnast and inventor who developed the modern trampoline and made trampolining a worldwide sport and recreation.
Anna Dogonadze is a German trampoline gymnast of Georgian origin who won a gold medal in the event of trampolining at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
Alexander Moskalenko is a Russian former competitive trampoline gymnast. He is the 2000 Olympic champion and 2004 Olympic silver medalist in men's individual trampoline.
Claire Louise Wright is a British trampoline gymnast. Her parents, Bernie and Colin Wright are gymnastics coaches and they run the Rushmoor Gymnastics Academy. She attended sixth form at Farnham College before doing a Sports Science degree at University of Wales Institute, Cardiff.

The men's individual trampoline competition at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney was held on 23 September at the Sydney SuperDome. This was the first Olympics where the trampoline competition was held. Alexander Moskalenko won the gold medal after coming out of retirement once trampoline was announced as an Olympic sport.

Henrik Stehlik is a German trampoline gymnast and three-time Olympic athlete. He competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where he received a bronze medal in the men's trampoline event. Since then he has also competed in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Stehlik was also an active member of German Olympic Sports Federation.

Alan Villafuerte is a Dutch trampoline gymnast. He represented the Netherlands at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia and at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. In the men's trampoline competition in 2000 he finished in 7th place. In the men's trampoline competition in 2004 he finished in 15th place in the qualification round.
Diogo Ganchinho is a Portuguese trampoline gymnast. He represented Portugal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China and at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom.
