Matthew V. Martin (born July 18,1969) is an American baseball coach for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball.
Martin is a native of Lubbock,Texas. [1] He graduated from Coronado High School. [1]
Martin was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 36th round of the 1991 Major League Baseball Draft. [2] He played for the Billings Mustangs of the Rookie Pioneer League in 1991 (batting .178) and 1992 (batting .243). [2] In 1992 he played for the Charleston Wheelers (batting .223) of the A South Atlantic League,and in 1993 he played for the Winston-Salem Spirits (batting .143 in 7 at bats) of the A+ Carolina League. [2] He played all infield positions and pitched. [2]
Martin served as a coach and manager for the Detroit Tigers,Los Angeles Dodgers and Baltimore Orioles. [3] [4] [5] In 1996 he managed Billings to a 23-49 (.319) record,in 2006 he managed the GCL Yankees of the Rookie Gulf Coast League to a 31-20 (.608) record,and in 2012 he managed the AZL Dodgers of the Rookie Arizona League to a 34-21 (.618) record. He coached the Israeli national baseball team during the qualifying round of the 2013 World Baseball Classic. [6] Martin was hired in 2014 by Brad Ausmus as the Detroit Tigers' first-ever defensive coordinator. [5] When Ausmus was hired to be the Los Angeles Angels new manager for the 2019 season,Martin came along with him to become the team's Assistant Coach/Instant Replay Coordinator.
Martin has a grown daughter,Jade. [7]

Dempsey was known for being one of the best defensive catchers of his era. In 1997,he was inducted into the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame.

Bradley David Ausmus is an American former professional baseball manager,catcher,and current bench coach of the Oakland Athletics in Major League Baseball (MLB). In his 18-year MLB playing career,Ausmus played for the San Diego Padres,Detroit Tigers,Houston Astros,and Los Angeles Dodgers. He was also the manager of the Tigers and Los Angeles Angels,and of the Israel national baseball team.
Juan Gabriel Castro,is a Mexican former professional baseball infielder,who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Dodgers,Cincinnati Reds,Minnesota Twins,Baltimore Orioles,and Philadelphia Phillies,during his 17-year big league career. Castro was known mainly for his defensive abilities. He was primarily a reserve player. Castro batted and threw right-handed. Following his retirement as a player,Castro joined the Dodgers organization as a coach. During the 2020 and 2021 seasons,Castro was the infield coach for the Phillies.

Kenneth Darrell Rowe was an American professional baseball player and coach whose career spanned 60 seasons. The native of Ferndale,Michigan,was a veteran of minor league baseball who appeared in 26 games over parts of three Major League seasons as a middle-relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1963) and Baltimore Orioles (1964–1965). He also spent all but two seasons of his coaching career in the minors;the exceptions came in 1985 and 1986 when he was the big-league pitching coach of the Orioles under managers Joe Altobelli and Earl Weaver.
James Robert Johnson is an American former professional baseball relief pitcher. Justin Matthew Turner is an American professional baseball third baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has also played in MLB for the Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets. He played college baseball for the Cal State Fullerton Titans. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2006 Major League Baseball draft by the Cincinnati Reds,and made his major league debut in 2009. With the Dodgers,Turner was an All-Star in 2017,and won the 2017 National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player Award. He won the 2020 World Series with the Dodgers.
The 2014 Detroit Tigers season was the team's 114th season. This was the team's first year under a mostly new coaching staff led by rookie Manager Brad Ausmus. On September 28,the last day of the regular season,the Tigers clinched the American League Central title with a 3–0 win over the Minnesota Twins. The Tigers finished one game ahead of the Kansas City Royals,with a 90–72 record. It was their fourth consecutive American League Central title. They became the first AL Central team to win four consecutive titles since the Cleveland Indians won five straight from 1995 to 1999,and the first Tigers team to ever make four consecutive postseason appearances. Despite all of this,the Tigers' season ended on October 5 when they were swept by the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Division Series. This snapped Detroit's streak of three consecutive American League Championship Series appearances.
