Michael Anthony McNulty (born 14 December 1982), known professionally as Matthew McNulty, is a German-born British actor. His credits include See No Evil: The Moors Murders (2006), Looking for Eric (2009), The Musketeers (2016), Cleaning Up (2019), and Domina (2021), and The Rising (2022).
McNulty was born on 14 December 1982 in Hanover, Lower Saxony, West Germany, [1] and lived in Berlin and Münster, [1] before moving to Atherton, Greater Manchester, England, [1] when he was 10 years old. [1] He attended Hesketh Fletcher high school, Atherton, [1] then furthered his education at Winstanley College in Wigan. [1] At 15 years of age, he was a lead in a school play, and enjoyed the role enough to make acting a career choice. [1]
McNulty was attending drama classes in Manchester when casting director Judi Hayfield approached him to audition for his first feature film. He juggled working in a builder's yard with performing. [2]
In 2001, he made his screen debut as Dominic Skelton in an episode of Emmerdale . [3] In 2006, he played his first lead role in See No Evil: The Moors Murders , [1] alongside Joanne Froggatt, Sean Harris, and Maxine Peake. [1]

Michael Andrew Atherton is a broadcaster, journalist and a former England international cricketer. A right-handed opening batsman for Lancashire and England, and occasional leg-break bowler, he achieved the captaincy of England at the age of 25 and led the side in a then record 54 Test matches. Known for his stubborn resistance during an era of hostile fast bowling, Atherton was described in 2001 as a determined defensive opener who made "batting look like trench warfare". He had several famed bouts with bowlers including South Africa's Allan Donald and Australia's Glenn McGrath. See No Evil: The Moors Murders is a two-part British television serial, directed by Christopher Menaul, produced by Granada Television and broadcast on ITV on 14 and 15 May 2006. The serial tells the story of the Moors murders, which were committed, between July 1963 and October 1965, by Myra Hindley and Ian Brady. The narrative is from the viewpoint of Hindley's sister, Maureen Smith, and her husband David.
