Early life

Matthew Solomon was born and raised in West Hollywood, California. He attended Fairfax High School where he became interested in music. Solomon later attended the University of Southern California School of Music on a Studio/Jazz Guitar scholarship, beginning his journey in the music and film industry. [7]

Solomon's life-long drive towards social justice and equity caused him to pursue leading conflict resolution programs and as a leadership consultant. [1] [8] However, during the COVID-19 shut-down, he returned to school to complete his bachelor's degree and earn a Master's in Public Administration degree. [9] As his thesis developed, he created the film that became Reimagining Safety. [9] [2] [10] This film covers the Stop Cop City movement and defunding the police following the George Floyd protests. [11] [3] Following his first documentary, he created a film on the Free Palestine movement within a year of its conception. [3]
