In 2000, Turner appeared on series 43 of the British game show Countdown, where he finished as runner-up. [3]
In July 2016, Turner won the Scottish Chess Championship with a score of 7.5/9. [4] He would later win the championship again in 2019.
In February 2018, Turner won the Dyfed Congress Open and Blitz championships, winning both sections with a perfect score. [5]
In February 2020, Turner gave a simultaneous exhibition to 28 players of the Ulster Chess Union in Belfast, winning 26 of the games and drawing two. [6]
In March 2020, Turner won the 25th Dorset Rapidplay, remaining undefeated with a score of 5.5/6. [7]

Harikrishna won the Tata Steel Group B in 2012 and the Biel MTO Masters Tournament Open event in 2013. He represented India at seven Chess Olympiads from 2000 to 2012 and won team Bronze at the World Team Chess Championships in 2010. At the Asian Team Championships, Harikrishna won team gold once, team silver twice and individual bronze once.
Parimarjan Negi is an Indian chess grandmaster. He achieved the grandmaster title at the age of 13 years, 4 months, and 20 days, which made him the second youngest grandmaster in history at the time. As of September 2023, he is the seventh youngest player to achieve this feat.
David Wei Liang Howell is an English chess grandmaster and commentator. A three-time British champion, he holds the record for being the youngest British person to achieve the title of Grandmaster, earned at the age of 16.
The British Rapidplay Chess Championships is a rapid play chess congress held in the UK annually since 1986 under the auspices of the English Chess Federation. The UK's premier weekend rapidplay congress includes The British Rapidplay Championship open to all players, and several grading restricted and junior tournaments. The tournament takes place over two days and consists of 11 rounds of chess. There are Open, Major, Intermediate, Minor and Junior categories. The event has been held in Leeds, Bradford and Halifax over the years. The new ECF event took over in 2023 onwards .

Valentina Evgenyevna Gunina is a Russian chess grandmaster. She is the two-time World Blitz Chess Champion, has won the Women's European Individual Chess Championship three times, and has won the Russian Women's Championship five times. She was a member of the gold medal-winning Russian team at the Women's Chess Olympiads of 2010, 2012, 2014, at the Women's European Team Chess Championships of 2007, 2009, 2011, 2015, 2017, 2019 and at the Women's World Team Chess Championship of 2017.
