Matti Kalevi Louekoski (born 14 April 1941) is a Finnish politician and a lawyer by profession. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP) and a former long-term member of the governing board of the Bank of Finland. [1] [2]
Louekoski was born in Oulu, and was elected to the Parliament for the periods of 1976-1979 and 1983–1996. He was a member of several cabinets, including Minister of Education in Aura cabinet of 1971, Minister of Justice in Sorsa cabinet 1972–1975, [3] Minister of Justice in Holkeri cabinet 1987–1990. In 1990 Louekoski became the Minister of Finance in Holkeri cabinet when Erkki Liikanen became the ambassador to European Union. [4] Louekoski's term as the Minister of Finance ended in the 1991 elections. Louekoski held the post of a minister for total 2,782 days.
Louekoski served also in the Espoo city council 1977–2002. He was a member of the board of Imatra power 1974-1990 and a member of Finnish Olympic Committee 1988–1993. Louekoski left the Parliament in 1996 to become a member of the board of the Bank of Finland. He acted as the deputy chairman of the board 2000–2008. [5] He retired on 1 January 2008.
The politics of Finland take place within the framework of a parliamentary representative democracy. The Constitution of Finland vests power to both the President and Government: the President has veto power over parliamentary decisions, although this power can be overruled by a majority vote in the Parliament.
Harri Hermanni Holkeri was a Finnish statesman representing the National Coalition Party of Finland. He was the Prime Minister of Finland 1987–1991, president of the UN General Assembly 2000–2001 and headed the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo from 2003 to 2004.
Johannes Virolainen was a Finnish politician and who served as 30th Prime Minister of Finland, helped inhabitants of Karelia, opposed the use of alcohol and created Mandatory Swedish in Finnish basic schools.
Erkki Antero Liikanen is a Finnish social democratic politician and a former Governor of the Bank of Finland.
Tuija Kaarina Brax is a Finnish politician and former Minister of Justice. She is a Member of Finnish Parliament, representing the Green League. She was first elected to the Parliament in 1995. She has been the Minister of Justice in Matti Vanhanen's second cabinet and Mari Kiviniemi's cabinet.
Märta Elisabeth Rehn is a Finnish former politician and diplomat. She served as the Minister of Defence of Finland during 1990 to 1995 and as an Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations during 1998 to 1999. She was also a member of the Finnish Parliament and parliamentary leader of the Swedish People's Party of Finland, and a member of the European Parliament.
Antti Kalliomäki is a Finnish politician and former athlete. Kalliomäki is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP) and was a member of the Parliament of Finland from 1983 until 2011. He retired from politics in 2011.
Leena Luhtanen is a Finnish politician and a former member of the cabinet. Luhtanen is a member of the Social Democratic Party, and served in the parliament from 1991 until 2007.

Iiro Viinanen is a Finnish politician. Viinanen graduated as an engineer from a Tampere Institute in 1967 and as a Master of Science (Technology) from the Helsinki University of Technology in 1974. He was a Member of the Parliament of Finland (Eduskunta) from 1983 to 1996. He was a member of the National Coalition Party. He served as the Finland’s Minister of Finance from 1991 to 1996.
Ilkka Olavi Suominen was a Finnish politician from the National Coalition Party. He was President of the Nordic Council in 1992.
Reijo Mauri Matias Pekkarinen is a Finnish politician. He most recently served as a Member of European Parliament for Finland between 2019 and 2024. He is the Centre Party of Finland deputy and secretary, having served in various cabinet position in the Finnish government, including as Minister of Economic Affairs, Minister of Trade and Industry, and Minister of the Interior, as well as a member of parliament. He is known by the nickname "The Parliament Terrier".
Jyri Jukka Häkämies is a Finnish politician and the CEO of Confederation of Finnish Industries. He was Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs between 2011 and 2012, and a representative of the National Coalition Party, and the minister responsible for supervision of government enterprises with the exception of Patria, which is supervised by Jan Vapaavuori. He is also a member of the government's finance committee, a board member at YLE, the governmental supervisory board, Kotka city council and the Kymenlaakso regional board, where he is the chairman.
Jutta Pauliina Urpilainen is a Finnish politician. She was the first female chair of the Social Democratic Party of Finland, which she led from 2008 to 2014. She was the Minister of Finance as well as the Deputy Prime Minister of Finland from 2011 to 2014. Since 1 December 2019, she is the European Commissioner for International Partnerships in the European Commission led by Ursula von der Leyen. She announced her candidacy for the 2024 election for President of Finland in November 2023.

A member of the Centre Party, she was a Member of Parliament from 2015 to 2024. In the 2024 European Parliament election, she was elected to the European Parliament.
Pertti Edvard Salolainen CBE is a Finnish politician. He has served as MP from the National Coalition Party and party chairman (1991–1994) and Minister (1987–1995).
