Maulolo Leaula Tavita Uelese Amosa is a Samoan academic,public servant,and politician. He is a member of the Human Rights Protection Party.
Maulolo was the first person to graduate with a Master's degree from the Amosa o Savavau (Indigenous University of Samoa). [1] He later worked as Head of Samoan Studies at the National University of Samoa, [2] as the Director of Internal Affairs,and as a lecturer at the Amosa o Savavau in American Samoa. [1] In 2010 he was Assistant Chief Executive of the Ministry of Women. [3] He is the author of Fausaga o lauga Samoa,a significant work on Samoan oratory.
In February 2019 he claimed that Samoa's diaspora was undermining traditional cultural values of respect and deference in Samoa. [4] [5]
In July 2019 he was summoned for contempt of court for breaching a court order prohibiting construction on a piece of disputed land. [6]
Maulolo stood for election as an independent in the constituency of Sagaga-le-Usoga at the 2011 Samoan general election,but was unsuccessful. [7] He stood again in 2016 [8] and 2021. [9] He was finally elected to the Legislative Assembly of Samoa at the 2021 Samoan by-elections. [10]
SusugaTuila'epa Lupesoliai Neioti Aiono Sa'ilele Malielegaoi is a Samoan politician and economist who served as the sixth prime minister of Samoa from 1998 to 2021. Tuila’epa is Samoa's longest serving prime minister and is currently the Leader of the Opposition. Since 1998,he has led the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP). Tuila'epa first entered parliament in 1981 when he won a by-election to represent the electorate of Lepā. He also served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in the government of Prime Minister Tofilau Eti Alesana,and also held the portfolios of Tourism and Trade,Commerce &Industry.

General elections were held in Samoa on 2 March 2001. Prime minister Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi led the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) into the election. Opposition leader and former prime minister and future head of state,Tui Ātua Tupua Tamasese Efi led the Samoan National Development Party (SNDP) into the election. The HRPP won 23 seats,but initially fell short of a majority. The SNDP won 13 seats,the Samoan United People's Party secured one seat and the remaining 12 were won by independents. Following the election,all 12 independents joined the HRPP,giving the party a majority in parliament and allowing Tuila'epa to remain prime minister.
The National University of Samoa is the only national university in Samoa. Established in 1984 by an act of parliament,it is coeducational and provides certificate,diploma,and undergraduate degree programs,as well as technical and vocational training. About 2,000 students were enrolled in 2010 with an estimated 300 staff. Over his career he has served as a Cabinet Minister,Leader of the Opposition and represented the constituency for Lefaga &Falese'ela for over thirty years. General elections were due to be held in Samoa on 21 May 2021. They were called by O le Ao o le Malo Tuimalealiʻifano Vaʻaletoʻa Sualauvi II following the inconclusive results of the April 2021 election,but before the new parliament had even been convened or numerous electoral court petitions settled.

Six simultaneous by-elections were held in Samoa on 26 November 2021. They were called in the aftermath of the 2021 Samoan general election,which resulted in seven seats being vacant due to resignations and convictions for bribery and treating. While seven by-elections were called,the contest in Falealupo was resolved without the need for a poll,after the Supreme Court declared the HRPP candidate Tuitogamanaia Peniamina Le'avai to be ineligible,resulting in the FAST Party's Fuiono Tenina Crichton being elected unopposed.
