Aaron Wells Peirsol is an American former competition swimmer and backstroke specialist who is a former world champion and world record-holder. He is a three-time Olympian and seven-time Olympic medalist. Individually, he currently holds the world record in the 200-meter backstroke event. In February 2011, Peirsol announced his retirement, saying, "I ended up doing everything I set out to do."
Malin Therese Alshammar is a Swedish swimmer who has won three Olympic medals, 25 World Championship medals, and 43 European Championship medals. She is a specialist in short distances races in freestyle and butterfly. She is coached by former Swedish swimmer Johan Wallberg. Pavel Sidorov is a Kazakh former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle and backstroke events. Sidorov competed for Kazakhstan in two swimming events at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He eclipsed a FINA B-cut of 58.69 from the Kazakhstan Open Championships in Almaty. On the first day of the Games, Sidorov placed twenty-first for the Kazakhstan team in the 4×100 m freestyle relay. Teaming with Sergey Borisenko, Andrey Kvassov, and Igor Sitnikov in heat three, Sidorov swam a third leg and recorded a split of 52.14, but the Kazakhs settled only for last place in a final time of 3:28.90. The following day, in the 100 m backstroke, Sidorov placed fifty-second on the morning prelims. Swimming in heat one, he edged out Bolivia's Mauricio Prudencio on the final length to grab a fourth seed by 0.13 seconds in a time of 1:01.02.
Apostolos Christou is a Greek swimmer specializing in backstroke. He is the Greek National Record holder in the 100 metre freestyle and 50, 100, and 200 metre backstroke events, as well as contributing to national record efforts in the 4x100 metre freestyle and medley relays. He is a three-time Olympian, qualifying in 2016, 2021, and most recently 2024, where he became Greece's first Olympic medalist in swimming since the inaugural 1896 Games through his 2nd place finish in the 200 metre backstroke.

Dylan Carter is a competitive swimmer. Born in the United States, he represents Trinidad and Tobago internationally. He is the Trinidad and Tobago record holder in the long course and short course 100 metre freestyle, 50 metre backstroke, 100 metre backstroke, 50 metre butterfly, and 100 metre butterfly. At the 2021 World Short Course Championships, he became the first swimmer representing Trinidad and Tobago to win a silver medal a World Short Course Championships, winning the silver medal in the 50 metre butterfly. In 2018 and 2022, he won the bronze medal in the 50 metre butterfly and the 50 metre freestyle at the World Short Course Championships, respectively. He was the male overall winner for the 2022 FINA Swimming World Cup, winning nine gold medals, five in Trinidad and Tobago record times, to become the first Trinidad and Tobago overall winner. He is of Portuguese descent.
Kaylee Rochelle McKeown is an Australian swimmer and quintuple Olympic gold medalist. She is the reigning Olympic champion in the 100 and 200 metres backstroke. She is the world record holder in the long course 50 metre backstroke, the short course 100 metre backstroke and both the long course and short course 200 metre backstroke. She won gold in both the 100 metre and 200 metre backstroke at both the 2020 and 2024 Olympics. In 2023, she was named as the "Best Female Swimmer of the Year" by World Aquatics, after sweeping gold in all three events of backstroke at all three World Cup legs, held in Berlin, Athens and Budapest in October, 2023.
