Maxwell John "Max" Turner (born 12 February 1947) is a former Australian politician.

Born in Bendigo, Victoria, he attended Huntly Primary School and Bendigo High School, leaving in year 10 and working in the building industry from 1963 to 1965. In 1965 he joined the Victoria Police Force's Criminal Investigation Branch, qualifying as a detective. He left the police force in 1982 to open a newsagency in Golden Square, which he owned until 1990. Turner was active in the local community as Secretary of the Golden Square Retail Traders Association (198390), President of the Kangaroo Flat Rotary Club (199192), and President of the Victorian Authorised Newsagents Bendigo Region. He joined the Liberal Party in 1988 and was vice-president of the Golden Square branch in 1991, subsequently serving as a state council delegate and member of the provincial and federal electorate committees (199193). In the 1992 state election, he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly as the member for Bendigo West, serving until his defeat in 1996. He unsuccessfully contested the federal seat of Bendigo in 1998. [1]

John Quick (politician)

Sir John QuickLL.D. was an Australian lawyer, politician and judge. He played a prominent role in the movement for Federation and the drafting of the Australian constitution, later writing several works on Australian constitutional law. He began his political career in the Victorian Legislative Assembly (1880–1889) and later won election to the House of Representatives at the first federal election in 1901. He served as Postmaster-General in the third Deakin Government (1909–1910). He lost his seat in 1913 and ended his public service as deputy president of the Commonwealth Court of Conciliation and Arbitration (1922–1930).

John Brumby

John Mansfield Brumby is the current Chancellor of La Trobe University and former Victorian Labor Party politician who was Premier of Victoria from 2007 to 2010. He became leader of the Victorian Labor Party and premier after the resignation of Steve Bracks. He also served as the Minister for Veterans' Affairs and the Minister for Multicultural Affairs. He contested his first election as premier at the November 2010 Victorian state election. His government was defeated by the Liberal/National Coalition led by Ted Baillieu. Brumby resigned as Labor leader after the election, on 30 November, to be replaced by Daniel Andrews. Within weeks of this leadership change, Brumby left parliament, with a Broadmeadows by-election taking place on 19 February 2011.

The Deniliquin railway line is a broad-gauge railway line serving northwestern Victoria, Australia. The line runs from the border settlement of Deniliquin into Bendigo, before turning south-southeast towards Melbourne, terminating in Docklands near the central business district. It is a major trunk line both for passenger and freight trains, with many railway lines branching off from it. The line has re-opened and now sees multiple freight trains a year.

Bendigo West is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It is a 1,524 square kilometres (588 sq mi) electorate centred on the city of Bendigo west of the Yungera railway line, and including surrounding rural towns to the west and south-west.
