Maxwell John "Max" Turner (born 12 February 1947) is a former Australian politician.
Born in Bendigo, Victoria, he attended Huntly Primary School and Bendigo High School, leaving in year 10 and working in the building industry from 1963 to 1965. In 1965 he joined the Victoria Police Force's Criminal Investigation Branch, qualifying as a detective. He left the police force in 1982 to open a newsagency in Golden Square, which he owned until 1990. Turner was active in the local community as Secretary of the Golden Square Retail Traders Association (1983–90), President of the Kangaroo Flat Rotary Club (1991–92), and President of the Victorian Authorised Newsagents Bendigo Region. He joined the Liberal Party in 1988 and was vice-president of the Golden Square branch in 1991, subsequently serving as a state council delegate and member of the provincial and federal electorate committees (1991–93). In the 1992 state election, he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly as the member for Bendigo West, serving until his defeat in 1996. He unsuccessfully contested the federal seat of Bendigo in 1998. [1]
Bendigo is a city in north-central Victoria, Australia, located in the Bendigo Valley near the geographical centre of the state and approximately 150 kilometres (93 mi) north-west of Melbourne, the state capital.
The Division of Bendigo is an Australian electoral division in the state of Victoria. The division was proclaimed in 1900, and was one of the original 65 divisions to be contested at the first federal election. It is named for the city of Bendigo.

He became leader of the Victorian Labor Party and premier after the resignation of Steve Bracks. He also served as the Minister for Veterans' Affairs and the Minister for Multicultural Affairs. He contested his first election as premier at the November 2010 Victorian state election. His government was defeated by the Liberal/National Coalition led by Ted Baillieu. Brumby resigned as Labor leader after the election, on 30 November, to be replaced by Daniel Andrews. Within weeks of this leadership change, Brumby left parliament, with a Broadmeadows by-election taking place on 19 February 2011.

Sir Albert Arthur Dunstan, KCMG was an Australian politician who served as the 33rd premier of Victoria from 1935 to 1943 and from 1943 to 1945 and as the third deputy premier of Victoria for five days in March 1935. A member of the Country Party, now the National Party, his term as premier was the second-longest in the state's history and the longest of any third-party premier. He was the first person to hold the office of premier in its own right, and not an additional duty taken up by the Treasurer, Attorney-General or Chief Secretary.
Jacinta Marie Allan is an Australian politician serving as the 49th and current premier of Victoria since 2023. She has been the leader of the Victorian branch of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) since 2023 and has been a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the district of Bendigo East since 1999. She previously served as the 29th deputy premier of Victoria from 2022 to 2023. Allan is the longest-serving female minister in Victorian state history and currently the most senior sitting member of the Assembly.

Bendigo West is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It is a 1,524-square-kilometre (588 sq mi) electorate, centred on the city of Bendigo west of the Yungera railway line, and includes surrounding rural towns to the west and south-west. It encompasses the localities of Bendigo City, California Gully, Castlemaine, Harcourt, Long Gully, Maldon, Marong, Newstead and West Bendigo. It also includes parts of the Bendigo suburbs of Eaglehawk, Golden Square and Kangaroo Flat. It lies within the Northern Victoria Region of the upper house, the Legislative Council.

He competed at two Olympic Games, racing at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics in the men's eight and at the 1960 Rome Olympics in the Men's coxed pair.
