Maxwell Mavhunga is a Zimbabwean politician who has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Chitungwiza South in the Harare Province since 2018. Elected as a member of the MDC Alliance,he joined the Citizens Coalition for Change in 2022.
Mavhunga worked as a lecturer at Trust Academy while studying at the University of Zimbabwe. He also lectured in Denmark and the Speciss College where he taught commercial law to students. Mavhunga graduated from the University of Zimbabwe with his law degree in 1999. [1] After graduating,he began practicing as a lawyer. [1]
In 2014,Mavhunga became the provincial secretary for legal affairs of the Movement for Democratic Change –Tsvangirai. He was later elected as secretary for the Harare Province at the party's congress. [1]
Prior to the 2018 harmonised elections,Mavhunga was selected as the MDC Alliance's candidate for the Chitungwiza South parliamentary constituency. He was elected to Parliament at the election and named to the Parliamentary Legal Committee. [2] [1]
Mavhunga crossed the floor and joined former MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa's new party,the Citizens Coalition for Change,shortly after its founding in 2022. [1]
In August 2022,it was reported that local police officers had refused to utilise the satellite police station that Mavhunga had built in Unit L of the Chigumba area in his constituency with the Community Development Fund. [3]
In June 2023,Mavhunga was selected as the Citizens Coalition for Change candidate for Chitungwiza South for the general elections on 23 August 2023. [4] [5] Mavhunga retained the seat at the general election,having received 10,145 votes. [6] [7] [8]
Mavhunga is married and has three children. [1]
Mutasa South is a constituency of the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe,located in Manicaland Province. Its current MP since a 2022 by-election is Misheck Mugadza of ZANU–PF. The seat was previous represented by Regai Tsunga of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance until he was recalled in 2021.
Nelson Chamisa is a Zimbabwean politician and the current President of the Citizens Coalition For Change. He served as Member of the House of Assembly of Zimbabwe for Kuwadzana East,Harare. Chamisa was the MDC Alliance's candidate for president in the 2018 general election,having previously been the leader of the party's youth assembly. He has served as the former chairperson of national youth for the same party as well as the Secretary for Information and Publicity for the opposition party Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). In 2003,at the age of 25,Chamisa became the youngest Member of Parliament. Chamisa was also the youngest cabinet minister in Government of National Unity of Zimbabwe in 2009.

Harare Metropolitan Province is a province in northeastern Zimbabwe that comprises Harare,the country's capital and largest city,and three other municipalities,Chitungwiza,Epworth and Ruwa. Herbert Thomas Gomba is a Zimbabwean politician who served as mayor of Harare from 2018 to 2020. He has been a member of the Harare City Council since 2008 representing Ward 27,which covers parts of the Glen Norah suburb. Gomba was elected and sworn in as mayor on 3 September 2018,but was recalled from the City Council on 14 August 2020 amid factional disputes within the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance. He was reelected to the City Council in a March 2022 by-election as a Citizens Coalition for Change candidate.
The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is a Zimbabwean political party led by politician and lawyer Nelson Chamisa and its official spokesperson is Fadzayi Mahere. It was established on 22 January 2022 and was announced on 24 January 2022 at a press conference at Bronte Hotel in Harare.
General elections were held throughout Zimbabwe on 23 and 24 August 2023 to elect the president,legislators and councillors. The main race for presidential office was between two candidates of Karanga origin:ZANU–PF's Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and CCC's Nelson Chamisa. The voter rolls for the election increased to 6.5 million,up from 5.8 million in 2018.
