Background

Vocalist Dallas Taylor was originally the vocalist for Underoath, releasing three albums with the band. Prior to recording the band's fourth album, They're Only Chasing Safety , Taylor left the band for various reasons. [5] In early 2004 Taylor sang for the musical group The New Tragic, featuring Phillip Reardon of From First to Last. Taylor formed Maylene and the Sons of Disaster in late–2004 with Scott Collum, Josh Cornutt, Roman Haviland, and Lee Turner. The band signed with Mono vs Stereo and began recording their debut album. Cornutt left the band after production ended, before the album's release, being replaced by Josh Williams.

Define the Great Line is the fifth studio album by American rock band Underoath. It was released on June 20, 2006, through Tooth & Nail Records. Five months after the release of their fourth studio album They're Only Chasing Safety, the band were already in the process of working towards its follow-up. Recording took place between January and March 2006 at Zing Recording Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts, and Glow in the Dark Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, with Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage, Matt Goldman and the band as producers. Define the Great Line is predominantly a metalcore and emo album, which has also been tagged as Christian metal, post-metal and post-hardcore. The variety of styles was an unintentional move by the band, who took influence from At the Drive-In, Beloved and Cult of Luna, among others.

II is the second studio album by Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. It was released on March 20, 2007, on Ferret Records.

Narcissus was an American hardcore band formed by John LaRussa and John Pope in 1998 in Canton, Ohio. In addition to John Pope and John LaRussa (guitar), who were in the band from start to finish, members included, at various times, Justin Carroll (bass), Ray Taylor, Derek Carter (percussion), Bill Wensel (percussion), Stephen Cushman (percussion) and Josh King (bass). The band was on the now-defunct label Takehold Records before joining Century Media. A few albums were re-released through Tooth & Nail. Before breaking up the band were featured on The Vans Warped tour and were getting ready to hit Europe for their international release of Crave and Collapse, which was received well overseas. They announced that they have reunited and become a band again in 2020 after John Pope and John LaRussa were offered a spot on the famous Furnace Fest, performing on day 1, September 24, 2021, along with bands Converge, Glassjaw, Killswitch Engage, Everytime I Die and many others. Remembrance was a Christian metalcore band formed during the winter of 2003 in Lansing, Michigan. They played shows with bands such as Underoath, Maylene & The Sons of Disaster, Advent, Saints Never Surrender, War of Ages, Common Yet Forbidden, No Innocent Victim, Aletheian, Spoken (band), Bloodlined Calligraphy, Dagon, and The Burial. Remembrance released two independent EPs before releasing their full-length label debut Beyond the Scope of Reason in May 2007 on Sancrosanct Records [sic]. They broke up in 2008. Matthew Weir moved on to play drums for Sleeping Giant. Tony Padilla continued to run Sancrosanct Records, the label the band was signed to.

III is the third studio album by Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. It was released June 23, 2009, and all pre-orders shipped on June 18, 2009. The first single from the album is Just A Shock, which was uploaded to the band's MySpace as a promo for the album. About a week before the album's release another song was released to the public: Step Up. On June 19 the album was leaked in its entirety onto the internet. The song "Harvest Moon Hanging" is a reference to the Harvest Moon from the Bone series. The album debuted at number 71 on the Billboard 200 in its first week of release. It was announced that their song "Step Up " was used as the official theme for the inaugural WWE Bragging Rights Pay-Per-View. In 2010, was released a Deluxe Edition of the album in iTunes, containing two new songs and the music video for "Step Up ". "Step Up " also was on Season Two: Episode One of the critically acclaimed series "Sons Of Anarchy", when Bobby came back to the clubhouse after his jail time. "Step Up is also in the video game EA Sports MMA.

On August 15, 2011, Alternative Press released a new single by Maylene and the Sons of Disaster entitled 'Open Your Eyes' through their website. Sept. 26, 2011, AOL began streaming the album via their website.

The band was initially supported by the Sound Vs. Silence label, with whom they released their debut EP, Exclamationaire. Sleeping by the Riverside is a Christian metalcore band that originated in Tampa Bay, Florida. The band formed in late 1996 and disbanded around 2003-2004. The band has had several lineup changes. Since leaving the band, members have joined bands such as, Underoath, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, The Sugar Oaks, Affix Bayonets and Carry the Dead, who the band also did a split album with.
