Md. Emdad-Ul-Bari OSP, ndc, psc, te is a retired major general of the Bangladesh Army and incumbent chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission. [1] [2] He served as Colonel Commandant of Signal Corps. [3]

Education and training

Major General Emdad-Ul-Bari holds Master of Defence Studies, Bachelor of Engineering (Telecom), and Bachelor of Science degrees. He is also a graduate of National Defence College, Mirpur; Collège Interarmées de Défense (L'École de Guerre), Paris; and Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur.He did his MBA from IBA, Dhaka University. He underwent various military courses also in China, Pakistan, and UK. [4]

Career

Bari was the chairperson of Dhaka Cantonment Girls' Public School & College in 2013. [5]

Bari served as the director general for system and services at Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission in 2017. [6]

Bari was appointed vice chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professionals on 15 February 2018. He had served as an observer in MONUSCO. [7] He was replaced by Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan as vice chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professionals. [8] Until retirement he was Director General of BIISS.

On 10 September 2024, he has been appointed as chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission. [9]

Prior to join BIISS, he was senior directing staff at the National Defense College. Earlier, he was commandant, Bangladesh Ordnance Factories (BOF) and the director general of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party. He also served as the chairman of Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank.

Sheikh Mohammad Shafiuddin Ahmed is a retired Bangladeshi four star general who was Chief of Army Staff (CAS) of the Bangladesh Army, from 24 June 2021 to 23 June 2024. Prior to his appointment as CAS, he served as the quartermaster general (QMG) of Bangladesh Army as a lieutenant general. Md Mohiuddin Ahmed is a Bangladeshi engineer and former chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission. He resigned from the post after an investigative report of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology blamed him for the internet shutdown during protests against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
