Early life

Rahman graduated from Harvard University. [4]

Career

Rahman joined the 1982 special batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service. [5] [6]

Rahman was the deputy commissioner of Moulvibazar District. [4] He was the divisional commissioner of Chattogram Division. [4] He was the secretary to the Anti-Corruption Commission. [4] He served as the secretary to Bangladesh Public Service Commission. [4]

Rahman retired as an additional secretary. [7]

After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina led Awami League government, Rahman was appointed senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration replacing Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury who was made an officer on special duty. [7] [8] He was appointed for a two-year term. [9] He visited the grave of Abu Sayeed who was killed in the uprising against Sheikh Hasina and donated 100 thousand to his family. [10] He was accompanied by Rezaul Maqsud Zahedi, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Md Azmal Hossain, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner. [10] He denied allegations of receiving a 30 million BDT check for appointed of deputy commissioners. [11] [12] Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus ordered an investigation of the allegations against Rahman. [13]

Rahman was appointed chairman of the Jiban Bima Corporation replacing senior secretary Asadul Islam. [2] He is a member of the Public Administration Reform Commission. [3]
