Meagan Fitzgerald (born June 8, 1986) is an American journalist and foreign correspondent at NBC News based in London. She was previously at NBC owned and operated station WRC in Washington D.C. before she was moved to Chicago as a correspondent for NBC News. [1]

Early life and education

After graduating high school, Fitzgerald attended Howard University and earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. While there, she was a member of the women's lacrosse team and served as head coach at the University of San Diego. [2]

Career

She began her career as an anchor and reporter at KTVE and KARD in West Monroe, Louisiana. She then moved to KUSA in Denver as a news reporter and fill in anchor until 2015. [3]

She joined NBC at one of their owned and operated stations WRC in Washington, D.C., starting as a news reporter and worked her way to being promoted as the station's weekend morning anchor. [4] While there, she was known for covering a wide range of news stories including the D.C. mansion murders, marijuana legalization, historic floods, the 2016 presidential election, and the first inauguration of Donald Trump. In 2020, she joined NBC News starting as a correspondent based in Chicago. [7] She covered the Trial of Derek Chauvin, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Oxford High School shooting before she was moved to London in 2022, a position she still holds to this day. [8]

She announced her engagement to her girlfriend Kelly Heath in 2019. [10]
