The city's main daily newspaper is Le Quotidien . Le Journal de Québec also publishes a special edition for the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. [1] [2] Other newspapers now or formerly published in the city include Le Réveil , as well as student newspapers published at the city's colleges and at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. [3]

The seat was gained by the Liberals by Richard Hébert on a huge swing, and a surprising gain from a governing party; similar to the one seen two months later in the South Surrey—White Rock federal by-election.
