Melankton is the debut album by Norwegian singer, Kate Havnevik, featuring the single "Unlike Me," and the song "Nowhere Warm" as featured on the TV show Grey's Anatomy. The album was released in her home country of Norway on April 10, 2006, before being issued in the UK, accompanied by a bonus track, entitled "Travel In Time," which was written and produced with Carmen Rizzo (and featured in an episode of TV show The O.C. in 2005). Rizzo also helped mix some tracks and master the record.
The album premiered online on Havnevik's official website for 48 hours from 11 March-12 March 2006, and was added to Apple Computer's iTunes music store on 27 March 2006. Melankton was mixed and mastered in Los Angeles, having been recorded in London, Bratislava, Oslo, Reykjavík and Los Angeles. The strings were recorded first in Bratislava and Oslo, and the vocals were recorded last in Havnevik's London flat. In addition, the album also features production from Frou Frou member, Guy Sigsworth, who contributes tracks including "Unlike Me," "Not Fair" and "You Again." Sean McGhee mixed the majority of the album as well as co writing a number of songs.
Melankton is named after a character in a Norwegian book called Oppdageren by Jan Kjærstad, and means "black rose."
The album was released through Havnevik's own record label, Continentica Records, and licensed in the USA by Universal Music.

A-ha is a Norwegian synth-pop band formed in Oslo in 1982. Founded by Paul Waaktaar-Savoy (guitars), Magne Furuholmen, and Morten Harket (vocals), the band rose to fame during the mid-1980s.
Frou Frou are a British electronic duo composed of Imogen Heap and Guy Sigsworth. They released their only album, Details, in 2002. Imogen Jennifer Heap is an English singer-songwriter, record producer, and audio engineer. Born in the London Borough of Havering, Heap became classically trained in piano, cello, and clarinet at a young age. She began writing songs at the age of 13 and, while attending boarding school, taught herself both guitar and drums, as well as music production on Atari computers. Heap signed to independent record label Almo Sounds at the age of 18 and later began working with experimental pop band Acacia alongside Guy Sigsworth as a frequent guest vocalist.

Kate Havnevik is a Norwegian film composer, songwriter and singer. Her debut album, the critically acclaimed electronica-infused Melankton, was released in March 2006 on iTunes and April 2006 in Norway only, before being licensed internationally to Universal Republic USA later. Havnevik has successfully utilized PledgeMusic campaigns to fund some of her albums, including You, released October 2011, and &i, released March 2015. Her music has been prominently featured in TV shows such as Grey's Anatomy, The O.C., and The West Wing.

However, it never became as popular as "Epic", which peaked at #25 in the same charts, despite the former song peaking higher.
