Melbourne City Wrestling is an Australian independent professional wrestling promotion founded in 2010, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. [3]

Contents

Melbourne City Wrestling currently has two major venues that they use. MCW hosts monthly events at the Essendon Ukrainian Hall which is fondly dubbed the "MCW Arena" by their loyal following of fans. MCW also hold their super card events, which are only held a few months of the year, within the grand ballroom at the Thornbury Theatre, dubbed "the birthplace of MCW" as the first ever MCW event was held here. Partnerships & affiliations

Promotion partnerships

In April 2018, Progress Wrestling co-promoted a show with Australian independent professional wrestling promotions Explosive Pro Wrestling, Melbourne City Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Australia. In June 2019, Melbourne City Wrestling held the cross-promotional event, Southern Rumble 2019, in partnership with Southern Pro Wrestling (SPW) in Invercargill, New Zealand [5]

Training affiliation

During Progress x Melbourne City Wrestling show on 20 April 2018, Melbourne City Wrestling announced the launch [6] of their own training academy.

Video on demand

In early 2014, Melbourne City Wrestling launched "MCW Encore: Video On Demand" on Vimeo, which includes MCW events held between 2010 and 2017, as well as some documentaries. The majority of the back catalogue of events are available for a monthly subscription fee, or events can be purchased individually. [80] [81]

On 25 January 2018, Melbourne City Wrestling launched "MCW Encore: Video On Demand" on Pivotshare. [82]

The ICW World Heavyweight Championship is a professional wrestling world heavyweight championship owned by Scotland's Insane Championship Wrestling promotion. The title was first established as the ICW National Heavyweight Championship at ICW's debut show on October 15, 2006, with Drew Galloway becoming the inaugural champion. On February 7, 2015, the title was officially renamed the ICW World Heavyweight Championship after Galloway successfully defended the title in a match against Matt Hardy for the Family Wrestling Entertainment promotion in New York. The championship has been defended in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Australia, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Canada. In addition to these international title matches, defenses televised in 38 countries via Fight Network as well as an international presence on iPPV.

His other accomplishments include being a two-time OTT World Champion and a one-time PROGRESS Tag Team Champion. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Progress Wrestling World Women's Championship</span> Professional wrestling championship

The Progress World Women's Championship is a women's world professional wrestling championship created and promoted by the British professional wrestling promotion Progress Wrestling. It was announced on 24 April 2016, that Natural Progression Series IV would crown the first Progress Worlds Women's Champion. The tournament got underway in October 2016, with the champion to be crowned during the Super Strong Style 16 Tournament Edition 2017 weekend from 27 May 2017 to 29 May 2017. At the conclusion of the tournament at day two of the Super Strong Style 16 Tournament Edition 2016 weekend, Toni Storm was crowned the first Progress Women's Champion. As of April 9, 2024, there have been a total of nine reigns shared between seven different champions. The current title holder is Rhio who is in her first reign.
