Melissa (Mel) Bragg (born 17 December 1994) is an Australian netball and AFL Women's player for the Geelong Football Club.

Netball career

Bragg's elite-level netball career commenced in 2015, when she played for the Victorian Fury team in the Australian Netball League. [1] She moved to the Collingwood Magpies as a training partner in 2018 and played for Tasmanian Magpies, [1] though she made her debut for the Magpies at Super Netball level in the 2018 regular season against the New South Wales Swifts. [2] From 2018 to 2019, Bragg made four Super Netball appearances as a training partner, and she was elevated to the Magpies' senior list ahead of the 2020 season. [3] [4]

Australian rules football career

Bragg switched to playing Australian rules football in 2022, playing in the 2022 VFL Women's season with Geelong. She was later added to Geelong's AFL Women's squad for AFL Women's season seven. [5]

The Collingwood Magpies were an Australian professional netball team in Melbourne that competed in the premier domestic league, Suncorp Super Netball. The team was founded in 2016, during the disbanding of the ANZ Championship. The Magpies were owned by the professional Australian Football League entity, the Collingwood Football Club. The team's home games were predominantly played at John Cain Arena. In May 2023, news reports disclosed that the team was in financial distress, and later that month the Collingwood Football Club announced it would withdraw its netball team at the conclusion of the 2023 season.

Melissa Hickey is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club and the Geelong Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She served as Geelong captain in the club's first two AFL Women's seasons. She also played in the Victorian Women's Football League/VFL Women's for eleven seasons, representing the St Albans Spurs, Darebin and Geelong. In the VWFL/VFLW, Hickey won seven premierships, represented Victoria on three occasions and featured in the VFL Women's team of the year.

Meghan McDonald is an Australian rules footballer with the Geelong Football Club in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW). She previously played with the Western Bulldogs in the 2017 season. McDonald was recruited by the Western Bulldogs as a free agent in November 2016. She made her debut in the seven point loss to Collingwood at VU Whitten Oval in round four of the 2017 season. She played four matches in her debut season and kicked one goal. She was delisted at the conclusion of the 2017 season. In September 2018 she accepted a contract with Geelong to play in the club's inaugural season in the AFLW in 2019. She was awarded Geelong's best and fairest medal in her debut season at the club. In December 2020, McDonald was announced as Geelong's captain, replacing Melissa Hickey who retired at the end of the 2020 season.
