Aishling Moloney (born 28 January 1998) is an Irish Australian rules footballer playing for the Geelong Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). [1]
Originating from Cahir, County Tipperary as a gaelic footballer for Tipperary Ladies, [2] Moloney was recruited by Geelong prior to the 2023 AFLW season. [3]
Moloney had been previously scouted by the Brisbane Lions, but her departure to Australia was delayed due to work commitments and injury. Moloney had a knee injury in 2021 and was bitten by a spider in 2022. [4]
Making an instant impact for Geelong, [4] Moloney was awarded the 2023 AFL Players' Best First Year Player Award in her debut season. [5] [6]
During the AFL Women's offseason, Moloney returned to Ireland to play for County Tipperary. [5]
Moloney would kick 21 goals during the 2024 AFL Women's season, to tie for the AFL Women's leading goalkicker award with Brisbane's Taylor Smith. The 2018 season was the Geelong Football Club's 119th in the Australian Football League (AFL). It was the club's eighth season under senior coach Chris Scott, with Joel Selwood appointed as club captain for a seventh successive year. Geelong participated in both the inaugural AFLX competition and the 2018 JLT Community Series as part of their pre-season schedule, and the club's regular season began on 25 March against Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The Cats finished the home-and-away season with a 13–9 win–loss record and placed eighth on the league's ladder, qualifying for the 2018 finals series as a result. Geelong were defeated in an elimination final against Melbourne by 29 points, and therefore did not progress past the first finals week.
In the AFL Women's (AFLW), the Geelong best and fairest award is awarded to the best and fairest player at the Geelong Football Club during the home-and-away season. The award has been awarded annually since the club's inaugural season in the competition in 2019, with Meg McDonald the inaugural winner of the award.

She played many positions in her junior career in the TAC Cup Girls and VFL Women's before she was drafted by the Bulldogs with the tenth selection in the 2018 AFLW draft. Brown debuted in the opening round of the 2019 season.
