Melissa Doherty

Melissa Doherty (born October 8, 1967) is a Canadian visual artist. Doherty creates aerial view landscape paintings, which give the viewer a feeling of distance from the landscape. Her work also has a three-dimensional feeling, similar to architectural models, and have been described as "still lives." [1] [2] She graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours Bachelor of Arts ( Fine Arts, Studio Specialization). Doherty has received awards from the Ontario Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts. Her work is held in the collections of Sir Elton John and David Furnish, the University of Toronto, the Royal Bank of Canada, and the Progressive Art Collection, among others. She has exhibited across Canada and in the U.S. including the Musee des Beaux-Arts, Sherbrooke, Quebec, the University of Toronto, [3] the Cristinerose Gallery, New York, Art Chicago, and Harbourfront Centre, Toronto. While Pratt never thought of her work as being focused on one subject matter, her early works focus on domestic scenes, while some of her later work have a darker undertone, with people as the central subject matter. James Lavadour American painter

James Lavadour is an American painter and printmaker. A member of the Walla Walla tribe, he is known for creating large panel sets of landscape paintings. Lavadour is the co-founder of the Crow's Shadow Institute of the Arts.

Richard Vernon Francis Cook is a British painter living and working in Newlyn, Cornwall. Cook has been exhibiting for over twenty five years and has received awards from the British Council and the Arts Council. In 2001 he was given a solo show at Tate St Ives, with a related publication, and a major painting was acquired for the collection in 2006. Further works are held in the British Museum collection.

Mary Hiester Reid American-Canadian painter

Mary Augusta Hiester Reid (1854–1921) was an American-born Canadian painter and teacher. She was best known as a painter of floral still lifes, and by 1890 she was thought to be the most important flower painter in Canada. She also painted domesticated landscapes, night scenes, and, less frequently, studio interiors and figure studies. Her work as a painter is related in a broad sense to Tonalism and Aestheticism or "art for art's sake".

Monica Tap is a Canadian painter, artist and academic. She lives in Toronto, Ontario, and teaches at the University of Guelph. She is known for engaging and challenging conventions around landscape and still-life painting.

Judith Tucker

Judith Tucker was born in Bangor, Wales in 1960. She completed a BA in Fine Arts at the Ruskin School of Art, St Anne's College, Oxford, (1978–81) an MA in Fine Arts (1997–98) and a PhD in Fine Arts at the University of Leeds (1999–2002). Tucker is co-convenor of LAND2, a research network of artists associated with higher education who are concerned with radical approaches to landscape with a particular focus on memory, place and identity. She exhibits regularly in the UK and Europe. Between 2003 and 2006, Tucker was an Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Research Fellow in the Creative and Performing Arts.

Ronald Lloyd Myren was a Canadian artist and landscape painter. He was a well known artist in Western Canada who painted mostly in the foothills and mountainous areas of those provinces. He was the Chief Preparator and Registrar, and was in charge of installations at the Edmonton Art Gallery, now known as the Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA). He was not a religious man in the traditional church sense of the word, and was not baptized. He believed in nature and was often quoted as saying, "Nature is my church." He expressed his belief and feeling about nature through his art. He spent a great deal of time every summer out in the foothills of Alberta painting, taking photos and fishing. He said he was recording scenes of nature that were going to disappear because of logging and development, and in some respects this prediction has come true.

Renée Van Halm is a Canadian contemporary visual artist born in Haarlemmermeer, the Netherlands (1949) and immigrated to Canada in 1953.

Milly Ristvedt, also known as Milly Ristvedt-Handerek, is a Canadian abstract painter. Ristvedt lives and paints in Ontario, where she is represented by the Oeno Gallery. A monograph covering a ten-year retrospective of her work, Milly Ristvedt-Handerek: Paintings of a Decade, was published by the Agnes Etherington Art Centre in 1979. In 2017, a second monograph was published by Oeno Gallery which included a survey of paintings from 1964 through to 2016, Milly Ristvedt, Colour and Meaning : an incomplete palette.

Maria Hupfield is a Canadian artist, working in Brooklyn, New York. She is an Anishinaabe, specifically an Ojibwe and a member of the Wasauksing First Nation, located in Ontario, Canada. Hupfield works in a variety of media, including video and performance. Her performance practice references Anishinaabeg oral history and feminist performance history.

David T. Alexander is a Canadian painter, known for breathing new life into the landscape tradition of Canada as well as for working in a serious and ambitious manner to reinvigorate the contemporary practice of landscape painting.
