The Melrose Georgetown Hotel is a AAA 4-star luxury hotel located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C., United States. It was inducted into Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, in 2021. [3]

Location

The Melrose Hotel is located 5 minutes from Foggy Bottom metro stop and 10 to 15 minutes from the center of Georgetown. [2] It is located near the White House, the Potomac Riverfront, Georgetown, the National Mall, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and George Washington University. [4]

The hotel's lobby features marble floors and fluted columns. [1]

The hotel includes one restaurant, Jardenea, which features American-style food throughout the day. The hotel also offers seasonal al fresco dining facilities. [1] The Library Bar features dark-panelled wood, [5] and has outdoor patio space. Both the bar and restaurant are located near the lobby. [2]

The hotel contains an all-day business center, wireless internet [6] and 5,000 square feet (460 m2) of function space. There is also a small gym with a full set of weights and six pieces of cardiovascular equipment but with no natural light. [2] [7]

Guest rooms

The hotel contains eight floors and 240 French-inspired rooms for guests, [1] [8] which were last renovated in 2001. [2] Many rooms range from 400 to 425 square feet (37.2 to 39.5 m2) in size, with 32-inch (810 mm) televisions and safes. [2]

The building's construction began in 2007 and went through several changes. Developers originally planned the project as two towers, with a portion for residences. The hotel occupies just one of the towers, with the second being used as the Legg Mason Tower. A residential portion, comprising eight additional floors of condo units, began construction in 2014. The eight additional floors took almost four years to complete, adding an additional 62 residential units atop the existing hotel portion, separated by a mechanical floor.

It is a three-story Georgian-style brick masonry building located on 6th Street in downtown Redmond. It has been in continuous use as a commercial hotel since it first opened. Today, the New Redmond Hotel is a major landmark in downtown Redmond. Because of its importance to the history of Redmond, the New Redmond Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. On August 1, 2019, Soul Community Planet announced that after a two-year, $7 million renovation, The New Hotel Redmond by SCP opened in the Fall of 2019.
