Melyssa Savannah Ford (born November 7, 1976) is a Canadian media personality, actress, and former video vixen. Since 2023, she has cohosted The Joe Budden Podcast alongside broadcaster and former rapper Joe Budden. She attended York University and studied in the field of forensic psychology. [2] [1] [3]
In the late 1990s, music video director Little X discovered Ford, who was in her early 20s, while she was working as a bartender at a Toronto nightclub and helped launch her modelling career. [4] She has appeared in music videos, men's magazines, television programs and films. [1] Ford was an on-air personality for Sirius Satellite Radio's Hot Jamz channel. [5] She sells a line of calendars and a DVD. [6]
In a 2008 CNN interview, Ford explained that when making music videos she often asked herself whether she was "perpetuating a negative stereotype" about black women. When she was asked whether music videos, overall, are "demeaning to women", Ford replied, "Yes, I definitely have to say that". [2]
From June 2014 to January 2015, Ford participated in the Bravo Network television series Blood, Sweat & Heels , documenting her social life against the background of her struggles of becoming a realtor in New York. [7]
In 2016, Ford became a co-host of Hollywood Unlocked, a Los Angeles-based hip-hop and pop culture radio show. In June 2018, Ford was seriously injured in a car crash involving an 18-wheeler truck. She suffered a skull fracture and concussion. [8] Ford returned to the show in April 2019 following her accident. On August 24, 2020, Ford announced she would no longer be co-hosting Hollywood Unlocked. [9] In November 2019, Ford launched a podcast on YouTube called I'm Here for the Food [10] . The podcast featured a host of guests and covered a range of topics, including colourism, human trafficking, and forgiveness. The podcast last aired in November 2020.
After several years in Los Angeles, Ford moved back to the New York Metropolitan area in 2023, becoming a co-host on The Joe Budden Podcast.
Ford is of mixed-race. Her father has roots in Barbados and her mother is of Norwegian and Russian descent. [11]

Joseph Anthony Budden II is an American media personality, broadcaster, cultural critic, and retired rapper. He first gained recognition in the latter occupation with his 2003 single "Pump It Up", which peaked within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 and preceded the release of his eponymous debut studio album (2003). Met with critical and commercial success, the album peaked within the top ten of the Billboard 200, although it served as his only major label release for Def Jam Recordings; he thereafter released seven albums independently to continued critical praise. While doing so, he performed as a member of the hip hop supergroup Slaughterhouse, which were signed to Eminem's Shady Records in 2012; the group released two studio albums.

She first gained recognition as a member of the dance-pop girl group Seduction, who charted five singles on the Billboard Hot 100 between 1989 and 1990. A video vixen is a woman who models and appears in hip hop-oriented music videos. From the 1990s to the early 2010s, the video vixen image was a staple in popular music, particularly within the genre of hip hop. The video vixen first came around in the late 1980s when the hip-hop culture began to emerge into its own lifestyle, although was most popular in American popular culture during the 1990s and 2000s. Many video vixens are aspiring actors, singers, dancers, or professional models. Artists and vixens have been criticized for allegedly contributing to the social degradation of black women. Latinas are also degraded and hyper-sexualized in hip hop music videos because they are seen as objects of sexual desire in rap music videos.
"Wouldn't Get Far" is the third single from The Game's second album Doctor's Advocate. The song, produced by and featuring Kanye West, is about The Game mentioning and criticizing, by both name and alias, up-and-coming and established video vixens, models and actresses. The song peaked at number 64 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and reached numbers 11 and 26 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts respectively.
