The electorate covers a 8 km2 (3.1 sq mi) area to the south and west of Alice Springs, including the Alice Springs CBD, the suburb of Araluen, and some surrounding rural areas. It was the second largest victory in any Northern Territory election. The only larger majority in the history of the Territory was in the first election, in 1974.
